[Archived] The Telegraph Investigation

Recommended Posts

Should have happened after the BBC investigation, same faces have had another 10yrs to line their fat greedy pockets, whilst the average supporter struggles to buy season tickets and merchandise to follow the club they love.

I hope some of these scumbags end up in jail, but like everything else, if you've got money you buy your way out, but we live in hope.

Surely the game Redknapp is talking about was against Blackburn when we didn't have a shot against Spurs?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/17803505

Probably not as he didn't take anyone off at half time, he also said that the odds were 5-2 so I can't see that being right either as we were next to the bottom and spurs were still in with a shout of the Champions league. He also said that the other team battered them for the first 15 minutes, Still there was something seriously wrong with our performance that day

Independent inquiry into the fa more like

He's not being "painted" though, is he?

He's been damned by his own words and behaviour.

He had his fingers burned by panorama.he'd only just landed his dream job working directly for the fa.

He should've known better but his own greed and arrogance were his downfall. He not sorry, he's just sorry he got caught

OK I get it. You don't like him and he is the devil incarnate. Leave it at that.

I'm confident that a genuine enquiry would find that Sam's behaviour is the norm rather than out of the ordinary.

That's why the FA will never hold one. Lord Stevens couldn't find any evidence of wrong-doing!

Agree. They are just doing what's considered one of the off the record perks. Not saying it's right it isn't but it's been allowed to rumble away for years in the background whilst the authorities cock a deaf un so it becomes no big deal in some eyes. As daft as Allardyce was he isn't that stupid so it just shows the genuine disregard they have for the rules being enforced that they let themselves get in that position without much fear of being rumbled by their bosses.

It was a newspaper after all that did a very simple bit of digging. Those supposed to be enforcing the rules are just as guilty imo, sack the whole bent incompetent lot of em !

'(The FA) is an organisation which had lectured Fifa on its inadequate responses to corrupt practices, and here they were with their principal employee right under their noses seemingly happy to flog himself to those seeking to break the rules. He had to go'

Allegedly the match 'Arry was talking about was Bradford v Pompey in 2003.

It's a total non-story anyway...the telegraph have been scraping the barrel since going big with Sam (pardon the pun).

The players allegedly were betting on themselves to win the match and back in 2003 there was nothing legally wrong with this (only betting against yourself)

The FA laws on betting have since changed and as of a year or so ago you if you are a pro. player you cannot bet on ANY football market eg a premiership player cannot even bet on league 2.

At the time of the alleged match there wouldn't be an issue.

Besides, 'Arry is saying its a spread bet, and if a footballer had a £20k bet with one of these firms it would get alarm bells ringing as they are so well regulated (FCA) in comparison with Asian firms and the story would have broke years ago.

Just sounds like Harry is talking about something he doesn't know a lot about. The fact he said 'a lad had a £20k bet' when with spreads the liability can vary depending on the result, makes me doubt it even more, unless he is talking about £20k a point.

Embarrassing they've been investigating him for 10 months and this is the best they came up with.

Plenty to go at from the BBC documentary 10yrs ago as far as I'm concerned, but their has to be a desire, and far to many are set to lose far to much if things come out, so its going to take a smoking gun to bring these greedy swines to book.

Agents, managers, coaches, FA and Journalists are all allegedly all involved, I hope they get jailed if found guilty.

Harry knows all about the intricacies of betting and gambling. Met him a number of years ago in a private box at Cheltenham (Races not football club)

Did he give you any tips that were nailed on?

No: He actually came over as trying to be one of the boys but there was something not quite right and I left thinking that I wouldn't trust that bloke further than I can spit. Maybe harsh but that was my impression and I was not by myself thinking that.

I got that impression off him from the TV 4000 Holes. A cockney spiv who has probably had a few quid from transfers. I bet that he and Grant had a bit off that big Israeli defender who 'played' for Chelsea and Portsmouth. Tal Ben Haim or whatever he was called. He seemed to go for a fair amount of money and/or big wages, then never play.

And how many clubs did he leave in financial poo?

Coincidence that he was one of Allardyce's at Bolton too?

I was more referring to how these companies are regulated and how unlikely it is to have happened. Personally just think he was trying to be a bit gobby and talk up a story that he doesn't really know much about.

It's all gone quiet again anyway, nothing will come of the Harry stuff as it's extremely unlikely to be true.

Yes he knows about gambling and what comes with it, he was even the face of a dodgy betting company recently 666bet.

But with him making these claims it's just a complete non-story, besides as I said the laws for footballers to bet on football were different back then (if that is the alleged match)

The only reason it's gone quiet again is the legals will be at work on the newspapers saying print anything without similar proof to the Alllardyce sting and we'll have you.

Whoever has had it in for Big Sam has got the job done and he's out of the England role. An inside job if ever there was one I reckon. The rest of it will disappear now unless maybe this new police investigation mob is for real. If it is those with the stuff on Rovers want to be on to them straight away saying please start here.

It's backfired.

I think you are right there , someone had it in for him ...The one that puzzles me is the Barnsley assistant manager , how did they get the info on him ?

He is definitely a bit aloof when he speaks on the box. When he resigned his position at West Ham, saying it was because of a sore leg, I wondered if that was really completely accurate.
