Babbel was ok in spells if I remember right but also not the most committed at times and I've a feeling he made a few out of order comments in the press somewhere that didn't exactly endear him to the masses.

He was coming back from that illness that had him wheelchair bound so it was amazing to see him playing again and he was a class defender in his day.

Is that the 90-91 season? Didn't we finish 19th or something? Remember getting thumped by Notts County away ??

Think it was yes. I remember the BBE singing 'we've lost that scoring feeling' as we drew another blank. May have been the season of the sit down protest on the concrete terrace. Can you imagine asking people to do that in winter these days ?

specially with emptied bladders running down the steps.....undisputable loanee ever has to to Archibald because at the time it was unbelievable ,it would probably be the same as us loaning in someone like Balotelli or rooney .

Archibald ("the Scottish Jew") for me, followed by Berkovic.

I was at Home Park when both Archibald and Ardiles played (made their debuts?) and remembered thinking am I dreaming that these 2 are actually playing for us? Ardiles didn't last long, cynically and typically scythed down by Nicky Marker. I think we lost 3-0. Archibold was brilliant and pulled his tripe out.

Berkovic was an absolute class act and made a real difference.

Sadly, the way that football has gone, we're never likely to see the like again. The likes of Duncan McKenzie coming to Rovers and actually playing, trying and entertaining?

I growl at the TV screen every time I see Danny Murphy!

Quality stuff and it reminds how simple football is if you have a guy who can finish. Just get to the line and cross first time every time.

If you a defender they're the hardest ball to defend against. Teams playing in front of you are relatively simple to defend against.

Players who can get around the side of teams win you matches.

Yes everything these days is sideways and backwards. ZZZZZZZ

Simple things like a striker who comes deep plays a first time pass and spins off his man and goes wide, other striker goes far post, other winger goes down his side of the box and a midfielder pushes on. All done in one move from an attack at the other end.

Feed Gallagher like this he'll get a bag full but strikers have to get involved more in the overall play as both him and Emnes just tend to lurk up front and are a bit static imo.

When the ball is in front of you it's relatively easy to watch both the ball and the player you're marking. Once you've had to turn round and run towards your own goal it's much more difficult to watch both the ball and the player. He can sprint in front of you and get away or slow down and let you run away from him. It's much easier to avoid your marker as a striker once the defence has been turned around.

Who've we got who can get to the goal line ?

No one really as both our wide guys don't seem to like hitting a first time cross on the run. Feeney might be able to do it ........ in the vanarama leagues !

Something we suffered for under GB and it used to boil my blood regularly. When Marshall is on form in an attacking sense he's probably more effective on the left but obviously checks most runs to turn it back on his right. Just think of the goals Rhodes would've got with a proper quick winger played on the proper side.

I miss the old terraces, the old kits, the old spirit. I don't want to derail the thread, but I think if we'dve been in this situation in the 80s, protests would've been far more inclusive and ferocious.

I'm hazy on the sit down, but its ringing bells. Didn't Lenny Johnrose debut in the sit down game, and score?

I must admit I used to think he was called John Rose.

He's subsequently turned into an awful pundit, out of touch, and a Rovers hater.

Bury was his level.

Think he was always a bit bitter he never became the main man at Rovers and not long after he came through things went downhill quick so not an easy time. Once he crossed to the dark side and enjoyed a good period there that was him gone as far as Rovers where concerned !

Yeah the WHam fans sat down the season before I think it was when we were pasting them. Did the trick though as they came back from 5-1 down and nearly drew. Rovers fans copied the season after although I can't remember the opponents but it was completely organic. The natives getting restless then though forced the board to approach Jack about some funding allegedly. He certainly stepped up to the plate :rover:

These days the ONE man board in Blackburn approaches the phone then sits for months and waits patiently to be told what to do next. Which is easy as it's usually do nothing.......

Rovers fans seem to have a problem with player names (Nelson, Bert, Pederson).

The worst is Gordon mistaking our Israeli playmaker for the Son of Sam.

To be fair, if I remember correctly then even Brad himself tweeted that it would be good to play alongside his old buddy "Nelson" when Ryan signed for Tottenham... So not just fans I guess. :)
