[Archived] Are We Going To Get Any Points From The Next 4 Games ?

We'll scrape a draw or two, just to ease the pressure off a little. Always happens. Managers like Coyle find a way to make the more gullible think we're turning a corner, when it fact we're repeating a pattern which ultimately leads to relegation. Even SK managed it, until the end of the 11-12 season when the players downed tools and we absolutely imploded.

Always pays to be contrarian - see also Brexit and Trump.

Maximum pessimism before the game at Newcastle and we won.

... which led to increased optimism afterwards and we lost all three.

Therefore, we're likely to do better than anticipated over the next 4

Put your money on it.

Damn. By your own logic you've just jinxed it.

As DE said above, we'll get a result from somewhere which will see Coyle blather on about how we are in a false position and will soon move up the table. It's getting to the point again whereby winning leaves a bitter taste in the mouth - whilst we have an extra 3 points on the board, it may give Coyle an extended stay in the job, thus we are quite likely to be in the bottom 3 come May.

Or am I being extremely foolish to even think that Venky's might sack him based on results?...

Agree

Nothing based on results at our club. Not a single sacking or lack of has been based on results since they took over.

Appoint a manager completely out of left field - Berg, Appleton = Long odds

Pot those managers after 5 mins before most expect you to = Good odds

Appoint the caretaker = Decent odds

Keep him a while when people think you won't = Odds on sacking stretch out

Sack him out the blue = Good odds

Appoint an experienced manager who no one thinks will come, for the first time in your tenure = Long odds

Fail to honour your promises so he walks then hire the very last manager anyone in football thought you would = Long odds

Not like there is a pattern or anything !

Anyway we'll probably beat Newcastle, draw with Huddersfield and lose the other two proving their theory we can mix it with the best. Problem is losing to the rest.

Sorry you are definitely being foolish on that one. He would have gone by now, if the criteria set was to win football matches.

Don't forget the 5/1 to be relegated before the season started.

Coyle's here for the duration. He'll be hanging on for dear life if/when he takes us down preaching tales of woe, narrow margins and misfortune and wanting to build a side to get us back promoted again.

He's about to get another big pat on the back from his bosses in the next few weeks. Any real manager would be banging the owners door down demanding resources to strengthen in January or at least assurances about keeping hold of what we've already got until the summer. Coyle will just take part in the ride and his bosses will be delighted if he sells Marshall for £200k to Wolves and takes a loan player the other way without complaint.

We should get a point at Barnsley.

And perhaps one at Ipswich.

So 1-2 points for me.

I suspect we'll be below Wigan by then, but still 'in touching distance of safety' as the other @#/? teams won't pick up too many more points.

ooops
