No Nay Never Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 My 1st game this season. I'm not particularly interested in the match. Festive drink up with a band of pals is the only reason I'll be present. Barnsley Away on a Tuesday night under Souness is one of my fondest memories. It was the seasons turning point. 1 nil down (did Ripley score for them?) Huff and puff with Egil up front. On comes Matt Jansen and changes the game completely. Scored a scrambled equaliser and Dunny walloped the winner from miles out. We never looked back. Might be wrong but I seem to recall that being Brad Friedels debut?

I remember because I chose that time to travel the world. I flew back to England from Oz in december(from 30 degrees to minus 2) landed at 9am and stayed up, watched a turgid 0-0 draw vs QPR where Matty missed a pen, then went on the lash in town. 48 hours without sleep Incidentally Brad made his debut in the 125 centenary game vs Wolves on November 18th 2000
chor808 Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 aye because ticket prices venky FC get a cut ... pay on day they don't I'm completely cold turkey on all games , home , away , youth . I am so pissefd off about it , it breaks my heart every game I miss I'm not sure if they get a cut or not. If they don't then you are good to go. What is the rule in the FA cup I'm sure they changed it so the home club gets all the ticket money?
onlyonejackwalker Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Nine conceeded in the last three games. Not 1, or 2 or 3, but 9! This is pro-sport and that is totally unacceptable at this level Feel sorry for our strikers. Six in the last three matches and nothing at all to show for it. I think we will improve tomorrow and only concede 2. I think we will score 1 or 2 as well, but my guess is 1. So 2-1 to Barnsley. Another defeat and tough looking games to follow. Happy effing Xmas.

What is the rule in the FA cup I'm sure they changed it so the home club gets all the ticket money? I don't think so. The gate is divided after expenses I believe. It would be unfair if you are drawn away otherwise.

What is the rule in the FA cup I'm sure they changed it so the home club gets all the ticket money? FA cup money is split 3 ways after expenses (inc VAT). Home team get a third, travelling team get a third and the remaining third goes into the prie fund for redistribution at the end of the competition.

League Cup used to be spilt 40:40:20 League rules were changed late 80's (?) so home clubs kept all receipts (favouring 'big' clubs).
Lancaster Rover Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 No idea about the league cup but that's defo the split for FA cup.

I was looking forward to that, the life of a boycotter..
Leonard Venkhater Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Looks like longer if the photos from table tennis Tuesday are anything to go by Table Tennis Tuesday LOL. Question: What is the difference between Owen Coyle and a ping pong ball? Answer: One is extremely light weight and hollow inside. The other is something, which you bat over a table tennis net.
Mattyblue Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 With a few days to go, just under a thousand sold. Add in a few sales on the day at Oakwell and that isn't a bad effort. Obviously not the bumper crowd of '92 or a Boxing Day following of yore, but considering the state of the club, god bless us everyone.

Scored a scrambled equaliser and Dunny walloped the winner from miles out. We never looked back. Great game. Probably the coldest i've ever been at a match. Remember my eyes watering looking into the low floodlights opposite. Souness got angry and went on the pitch. Ended up at the front after the winner, patted Dunny on the back after he ran into the crowd. Went home buzzing after that. What a squad. Duff/Bent must've been injured. Blackburn: Filan, Curtis, Bjornebye, Short, Flitcroft, Dunn, M. Hughes, Hignett, Johnson, Ostenstad, Berg. Subs: Dailly, McAteer, Jansen, Carsley, Friedel.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 Just look at the subs bench ! Having said that Dailly still wouldn't get in our current team. He was seriously bad. Must have had a great agent.

Subs: Dailly, McAteer, Jansen, Carsley, Friedel.Truly frightening, that Souness led Rovers side would have torn this present excuse of a team to pieces, annihilated them. It's so sad. 1-1 at best.

tomphil Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Just glanced at some Barnsley forums and this must be the least awaited game ever. Two famous old clubs going nowhere.
bazza Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Barnsley have improved no end and are on a roll. They are expected to win handsomely. Rovers have such a poor defence they don't know where their next point is going to come from. It's Boxing Day and football is a "funny old game" Rovers to win 2-0 to surprise everyone in the country including us.
chaddyrovers Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Steele Nyambe Lenihan Brown Williams Marshall Mulgrew Evans Conway Gallagher Graham Thats the team I expect to see tomorrow
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Steele Nyambe Lenihan Brown Williams Marshall Mulgrew Evans Conway Gallagher Graham Thats the team I expect to see tomorrow How many of those have been injured recently. I'd be surprised if all of those players turn out.
Athlete Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Steele Nyambe Lenihan Brown Williams Marshall Mulgrew Evans Conway Gallagher Graham Thats the team I expect to see tomorrow 😁. At least Lowe isn't there.. Oh wait a minute.. Merry Christmas chaddyrovers
JAL Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Steele Nyambe Lenihan Brown Williams Marshall Mulgrew Evans Conway Gallagher Graham Thats the team I expect to see tomorrow Steele Nyambe Evans not good enough so let's hope Barnsley have a weak midfield and no decent strikers for these players to achieve a result!
Stonesrick Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I used to really look forward to Boxing Day fixtures, similar feeling to the 3rd round of the FA Cup. First away game ever on Boxing Day aged 9 years, Leeds v Rovers 1-1. I can remember a real intimidating atmosphere that day. Nothing like that feeling since this lot arrived and destroyed our club and a manager who talks drivel, drivel. drivel. drivel........and more drivel! 1-1 today, would definately be there under differant circumstances. I'm one of those that will probably be lost forever, found other things to occupy my time.
