pk1875 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I'm probably in the minority but I'm looking forward to the game and seeing if we can get through a tie we should be winning and reaching the last 16. If you want to protest, buy a ticket and protest from inside the ground. If people who are already boycotting boycott the game on Saturday as well, what effect is that going to have? No one is going to notice the slightest bit of difference. A full ish ground of both sets of supporters protesting now that would be fairly unique these days and would make far more of a statement. I don't expect most of the boycotters to ever come back at all let alone when Venky's leave but for one match only it's a shame the focus isn't on going in as a one off to protest as opposed to doing nothing significantly different than what has been happening to date. But many say keep protests away from games whenever possible. This gives the perfect scenario those who are against protests will get Ewood to themselves where they can roar the team on creating a positive and buzzing atmosphere even more so with it being a local derby and a cup tie. Im sure there will be a good atmosphere both inside and out.

Mercer Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 It's looking increasingly likely that I am going to have to go to this match. This is not by personal choice...............sometimes in the line of work, you just have to grin and bear it.

gazsimm Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 the not attendance protest will not work in my view. What about the fans who don't go on social media or this site?
1864roverite Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 The thing is NO ONE outside of either clubs gives a rats ar$e about the fixture. Oystons don't care and Venkys couldn't give a damn about it. The sad thing is, as is more than evidenced on this forum, fans are bickering with each other, there is a lack of respect for personal opinions and views and that is a massive problem when it comes to getting fans together to voice as one. Too much disorganisation, too much name calling and the end result is failure, like we see both on and off the park. BRFC, the fans, the team and the club are in a real mess. The venky's syndrome at Ewood and Oyston syndrome at Bloomfield has cruelly affected everyone associated with their clubs and I believe is beyond repair. The same happened and continues to happen over at Wigan and Bolton with infighting. Then we look over the hills at our nearest and dearest and can only look on with pure envy about they way Dingle FC is being run, how a structure placed within the club flourishes both on and off the pitch and which we as Rovers fan are sick knowing that is exactly how we were run just 6 yrs ago until these idiots were allowed to do what they did, and all under the watchful eye of 1 person. Step forward Rob Coar. You have so many questions to answer and you are guilty of riding rough shod over the grave of our greatest supporter and for that you should be ashamed.
Mercer Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I thought stewards had to watch the crowd and not the game? You should be fine Merc Nice one! Told today from Blackpool end that match ticket sales are 'steady' and attendance of 7/8k 'expected'. Personally, would be surprised with that attendance.
Husky Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 the not attendance protest will not work in my view. What about the fans who don't go on social media or this site? I'd be more up for an old school pitch invasion. You know, like there would normally have been if Rovers managed to cause a shock and knock the mighty Pool out of the most famous cup competition in the world.
gazsimm Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 i think stopping the match peacefully would have much more media coverage, like what charlton did and you never know the Venkys might get to hear about it as well.
tomphil Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 With the extra 4k stewards, police and enforcers hired for the day the crowd might well be 7k.
McClarky Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Hopefully enough will turn up and not go in to get some media attention. If there isn't good attention on this it will just look like a poor crowd. I think we were at the disrupting the game stage 4 or 5 years ago but something dramatic really needs to be done now. Hope fully we'll get another outing on TV this season.

Gav Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Broken record I know, but you need a few hundred stopping the game on the pitch, that alone will create more headlines across the world than any advert in the Indian press or protest outside the ground, great ideas though they are. Unless thats on the agenda for me its simply not worth it.
Spalding Rover Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Probably short notice now, but should get everyone who's outside to chuck tennis balls orange ones for blackpool, and 18th minute over the stands, prob riverside, or from corners.
chris2556 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 This is my first ever post even though i have been a member for years. I still attend ewood i have a season ticket ( but only till end of this season ) i have decided not to renew i have had enough now. But i will not!!!!!! be getting a ticket for this game. This game i think is a great time to unite and not attend. Good to be united with blackpool fans also.
tomphil Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Blackpool sold over 800 so far so it's looks like they are going 'in' to protest.
Mercer Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Seems like Blackpool have asked for more tickets - heard they think they can shift going up for 2,000.
JBiz Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Blackpool sold over 800 so far so it's looks like they are going 'in' to protest. Makes sense imo. Whole crowd in unison, protesting the (we do) FA in an FA cup game? Hell - I'm not one for protesting/disrupting/negative chanting in the stadium during games, but why not if it is both sets of fans together, in a non-league fixture that has the name of the idiots who are ULTIMATLEY responsible?
tomphil Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Agree and think i'll break the boycott for this, protest in and out it sounds like.
Amo Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Only one thing for it: Joint pitch-invasion. 'Pool fans have shown they've got the balls for it. Do Rovers? Probably not.
roversfan99 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Only one thing for it: Joint pitch-invasion. 'Pool fans have shown they've got the balls for it. Do Rovers? Probably not. I presume you will be leading it?
Jock Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Over 800 Pool tickets sold but only 2 coaches filled. Wouldn't put it past Both Clubs spinning their lies together to try and break the EmptyEwood Protest.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Probably short notice now, but should get everyone who's outside to chuck tennis balls orange ones for blackpool, and 18th minute over the stands, prob riverside, or from corners.Jesus, you must have a super human throwing arm. I will bring the tennis balls you bring the motar we'd need to get them over the stands 😂😂As for a zero attendance I don't think anyone in their right mind would think that was possible. However for example a sub 5k attendance for a league game would get the ball rolling. Hey ho. Lets keep on and there may yet be a zero attendance when the locks go on the gates
pk1875 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Blackpool have sold 800 tickets? lol but only two of the free coaches filled?
