USABlue Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Nuts it's all nuts. Sure the majority if thr missing support is of the can't be arsed/fairweather type. What a noble excuse boycotting provides for these types. Breaks my heart to see us this way.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I could do with the clarity of being an ocean away? You have it all figured out
tomphil Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 There'll be a couple of hundred in each section. Todays crowd 11,873

AggyBlue Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Perfect match for the boycotters to attend and lead a pitch invasion from our end, meet with the pool fans at the half way line. After all, it wont matter if they get banned.

To take a cheap shot like that does you no favours.
Neal Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Correct Yeah and some of those who still choose to go take a high horse judgemental attitude towards those taking a stand. 2 sides Paul.

After all, it wont matter if they get banned. yes it will because many of us want to be back as soon as venkys go and hopefully that won't be too long. Boycotting is not easy. Its like addiction to anything. You still crave it long after you think you've recovered. I still envy those who feel they can still attend. But I've decided it's better not to go.
JBiz Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 The majority of boycotters I speak to are doing it because they believe it will help to rid us of the disease and they are proncipled. . Maybe you could explain why they believe that will work? Nobody (as of yet) has managed it.
den Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Maybe you could explain why they believe that will work? Nobody (as of yet) has managed it. "As of yet". Bit of a caveat there JB. I guess they believe that they can't go on supporting the goings on of the last 6 years, that they can't go on watching the total destruction of the club. Maybe they can't comprehend those that won't do ANYTHING AT ALL to even try to put pressure on the owners. What about you JB, what have you done so far?
arbitro Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Maybe you could explain why they believe that will work? Nobody (as of yet) has managed it. I have several times before. The only time there has ever been anything like global exposure to our plight was just after the Crewe match which was one of the poorest attendances ever at Ewood. For a few days after the likes of Savage and Collymore went to press (or social media) and our plight was seen by a lot of people globally. At that time several prominent Indian publications picked up on the story and ran stories which were critical of our owners in their own back yard. An empty stadium would, I believe create even more interest globally and hopefully more criticism of the Indians. As the old saying goes the pen is mightier than the sword. I have also said I fully understand why people are still going and respect their right to do so. My belief and principles will simply not allow me to do spend any money on anything Rovers.

rigger Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 The reason I don't go to the Rovers any more, is not for any high moral stance, it's because the product is @#/?.

You are correct in saying that a low crowd had an impact on the media, but I'm talking about an impact on the owners, the club etc. Has it had an impact? Will further decline and dropping attendances get rid of the owners?

I'm asking for clarification on what boycotting and low attendances will bring. Of course, I have my own answer but it's important to try to understand why people think it is a positive action. Heck, I can understand why people don't want to go, as rigger said the product is at an all time low. I just don't understand why boycotting is seen as the "positive" method of protesting.
Rover_Shaun Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Will carrying on rewardless do any better? I see no evidence that is has achieved anything too. The club just continues to take the mick out of us all
arbitro Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 You are correct in saying that a low crowd had an impact on the media, but I'm talking about an impact on the owners, the club etc. Has it had an impact? Will further decline and dropping attendances get rid of the owners? That is a question neither you or I can answer with absolute certainty so it boils down to opinions. Clearly there is little financial impact but the embarrassment a virtually empty stadium would cause them would, I believe cause them to think about selling up. As I said it's down to the individual whether or not they go and spend their hard earned money. From your post it seems you believe there will be no impact, I think there would.

47er Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 And if boycotters got banned, they wouldn't be able to support their club when Venkys left would they? Own goal?

You couldn't be further from the truth, low attendance has a huge impact, but not on our delightful owners. The main impact I think boycotting has is further cuts in spending. Search "Cov chairman cuts" into google. This is not to excuse the bad decisions made by the owners or managers, this isn't to put the responsibility on the fans - this is about being a "custodian" of the club. If everyone walks away, what reason do they have to keep it open?
Amo Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 I presume you will be leading it? I don't think you presume that all. I have a sneaky suspicion you're being sarcastic.
JBiz Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 Will carrying on rewardless? I assume you mean regardless. Carrying on supporting the team and badge, despite the actions of the owners? I think that's a more positive message than just giving up personally, but that's probably down to my worry that BRFC may suffer a lot more down to road. I know others think that we've hit rock bottom but we still own our ground and training/academy facilities. Study the Cov scenario, you'll see differences but you will also see a trend where the only people who really care are the fans. If they walk, then who is left?
