what have coventry got to do with it?

Quotes of Cov chairman on boycott;

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/watch-coventry-city-chairmans-threat-12335919.amp?client=safari

I doubt even our own jokers would be so stupidly brash in public with those comments, however the "ridiculous" model would probably suit the owners if they want to spend the rest of their existence with fingers in their ears.

Link to similar discussions for them;

I've read a lot about them and their plight. It's a different type of ownership I think but there are lots of comparable elements.

But it won't be the same Club, it will be a totally different entity.

In those circumstances they would have won.

The only way the fans will win is if Blackburn Rovers Football Club formed in 1875 playing at Ewood Park and operating from Brockhall in honour of Jack is still here when Venky's have gone.

Glasgow Rangers is generally considered to be the same club.

Which begs the question John why they even denied receiving a bid from Seneca which could have been a salvation for them and saved them from being total failures in the eyes of their peers. I had very few dealings with Indian businesses but I recall several people on here who have saying admitting failure is not really acceptable in their business culture. But if that is the case then we could be lumbered with them for the foreseeable future by which time we could well be playing in League Two or National Conference.

Who knows Tony. I wonder with these people what their underlings see and deal with in ways that they hope will gain them favour with the family. I also wonder if they think they even have any peers or worry about what anyone else - no matter who - thinks of them. Does Abramovich worry about what other oligarchs think of him? I really have no idea. They don't seem bothered by having PETA on their case or Barry lead-piping a couple of slackers. I suspect they have no conception of shame or disgrace.

But yes, I think they are here for the forseeable future and we could be making return visits to The Shay. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they would find us going bust less embarrassing than handing the club over to the two Ian's - businesses go bust all the time and it's not really newsworthy for the super-rich who go through companies like we do socks.

The trouble with my point of view is that it offers no hope, and certainly no hope that a few hundred fans staying away or going to games will achieve anything other than further fragment a divided fanbase. Boycotts are easy to call for when one isn't one of the regular attendees and any plan which requires thousands of people who disagree with it to join in is 100% doomed. Personally I think those efforts would be better directed at doing what WAR isn't doing and seeking common ground across all fans. Murals, half-page ads, marches etc. just seem to me to be therapy sessions. I'm also not a fan of the obsession with trying to get publicity. Everyone knows the club has been screwed. The FA, far from wanting to do anything, seem to think overseas owners are a good thing overall, and accept there will be some bad apples. Embarrass the bad apples and you chase away the golden eggs.

Futher dark days ahead.

Watch the Cov chairmans quotes and get back to me

As per usual you're scrambling around for an excuse for doing nothing, just admit you've either not got the balls or you simply have no inclination to protest, instead of wrapping it up in bullsh1t.

The majority won't protest, it's nothing to be ashamed of Jbizzle, get on board with the majority, even I've given up!

In other words, you,PB, Chaddy etc will not assist in any protests and if the club folds you will not help others form a new one?

Great!

Sky and ITV are due to cover the protest.

Mike, how do you envisage this publicity on U.K. TV will increase the probability of our Indian-based owners either changing course or selling up? Every protest or action seems geared to the pursuit of publicity so I am interested in why the organizers place so much importance on it.

It's not the size of the fan base that counts. Rangers are a special case because the Scottish League needs them.

But what about Wimbledon? No big numbers there and certainly nothing like our tradition.

They have laboured over years to restore what they rightly believe is their club. They even got their FA Cup back from Milton Keynes!

Hearts of oak are what we need now not men of straw.

While I don't actually organise this stuff (and I'm sure Mark will be along to answer this better than me), my gut feeling is that we need more fan empathy than anything.

The more people see how wrong things are, the more likely something (whatever that may be) is to happen.

You can't take memories away, but you can lose heritage. If BRFC folds, the stadium is knocked down to be sold, Burnley buy Brochall... I won't be starting again, that will be it for football.

An absolute nightmare scenario....like many I would walk away from football for good, deeply scared for life.

Why are we even having to think along these lines, what the hell have we done to deserve this?

It's horrible, obviously a worst case scenario that but I don't want to lose all that. Its hard to understand the lunacy, to be honest the whole sport has lost its "fun".

If this is the case then Blackburn has no football future at all.

The only hope is a post-admin Venkys. If people are going to walk away from that because it's all too difficult/painful then we are a dead club walking.

No excuses now, boys and girls!

Sky and ITV are due to cover the protest.

If it is on mainstream media in the UK then a good chance of it being picked up by media internationally. Apart from the LT...

I will leave alone the probability of being able to see it live via the internet in many Asian locations.

It will get intermational coverage for those interested.

Interesting the two major players who don't have FA Cup matches are the ones covering the protest.

It isn't about the protest, it is them saying "this competition doesn't mean anything to the fans, and that's why we don't screen the matches."

Ive said my views.

I dont have a clue at this stage.

Fixed ;)

cracking bit of cherry picking. How about the following?.......

As are Accy, Aldershot, Darlington, Hereford, Wimbledon, Newport, Halifax, and Rushden&Diamonds.

Add Chester to that list.

--------------

When will we stop hearing bleats of "how will this affect Venkys?"

We don't know but doing nothing is certainly not the fkn answer

I wonder how the poll tax would be dealt with now..... "a shrug of the shoulders"?

Owens open door policy V Garys get a draw tactics.

1-1 Written all over it before Gaz gets his own back and dumps us out in a replay at the Seaside on penalties after another long grind of a game.

Stokes with a rare appearance and goal for Rovers before he disappears on the razz back home for a week or two again !

6,675 (real crowd 4,400 with plenty corporates issued for this one)
