Parsonblue Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Including Blackpool's 1,000 away tickets there's a total of about 5,300 been shifted so far for this game. I say shifted, not sold. Better than I expected to be honest.

Al Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 All the best Al! I may be protesting, but still hope for a win! I have no problem with people protesting. It's just not something I feel I can do and I get fed up of reading page after page on the subject in a football topic. Thanks everybody for the good wishes. I'm celebrating with the family tonight.
den Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Course I wouldn't!!! When the Club's gone it's gone, and people would be asked to get behind and support an entirely new and different Club, why can you not understand that? Whilst I'm not at all happy with the Venky's or their track record I'm not and never have been particularly interested in campaigning for the removal of the only thing preventing us from going under. My only interest is in the same Club thats been here since 1875 still being here when they're gone. That seems to conflict with many protesters whose hatred of the Venky's is such that it seems to have superceded their support for the Club and they merely want to see the back of them regardless of the consequences for the Club. Administration is of course slightly different because if that were to happen then it is still the same Club coming out the other side after a period of financial restructuring. I could undoubtedly continue my support in those circumstances. However if Venky's left there is no guarantee we could survive with debts of 110m and rising and even administration would probably entail us plummeting even further down the divisions so ideally I'd rather that scenario was avoided as well. The protests are about the owners putting the club up for sale Rev. You would support that wouldn't you?

den Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 My over riding view is that I am 75 (today) and I don't know how long I have left to watch my team. I therefore want to watch Rovers as much as I can and consider that the football section is for talking football. Protests and general whinging about the Venkys and agents can be the subject of separate threads that I don't have to pore through to get the odd bit of discussion about the team. I would have no problem with that. I'm too old to do marches etc. That is for the younger fans who have years ahead of them. Keep going down Ewood Al, you've been going on that long it would be a shame to give up - and happy birthday.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 The protests are about the owners putting the club up for sale Rev. You would support that wouldn't you? I reckon they'd sell for a pound tomorrow den to anyone who would be willing and able to take on the debt. As no-one is likely to be willing to do that I'd imagine it would be a relatively fruitless exercise.
Jock Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Anyone attending and not participating in anything is a disgrace full stop. I know of a 5 year old going to his first match, it's his birthday. They're gutted this is the boycott game. They've promised to take a banner in.
TBTF Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I would hope that the Rovers Trust have taken advice from a quality Insolvency Practitioner. If indeed we are about to enter VEXIT, in my opinion it might be beneficial to obtain professional quality advise from an IP with experience in football matters. Beforehand there may be ways and means in positioning before any buttons are pressed, in order to perhaps have some input or insight into events. Would be worth spending a few £s. I suspect Seneca will know the ropes in that sphere , Boz and I guess they will be clued up looking at what they do for a living. Still think of all the things we know about they would be far and away our best bet Having said that , I am pretty sure they or anybody else would consider it suicide to take on anything other than a nominal amount of the debt. When all is said and done , there is nothing there for anybody to buy with any value maybe other than Brockhall.

As no-one is likely to be willing to do that I'd imagine it would be a relatively fruitless exercise. So what happens in the meantime Rev? How are they going to get their money back? I can say with some certainty, judging by their decision making over the last six years, that they have absolutely no chance of that happening as things stand and with these current "advisors" in place. No, the best they can hope for is to cut their losses and beggar off. See what offers they get in. They've a week to sell the one remaining player that could fetch a few quid, after that he can walk away for nowt in the summer. So really, honestly, just why are they still here?

No I don't understand your attitude anymore than the fans of Rangers, Wimbledon, Accy Stanley would.

chaddyrovers Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Anyone attending and not participating in anything is a disgrace full stop. that's is your view. I will attending the game and not protesting. I am taking my missus who is looking forward after only being home since last Thursday after having another op(3rd op in 4 weeks) last week. She is determined to go tho My over riding view is that I am 75 (today). I therefore want to watch Rovers as much as I can and consider that the football section is for talking football. Happy Birthday Al. what would your team be for this game? my team would be Raya Nyambe Brown Lenihan Williams Feeney Akpan Guthrie Mahoney Stokes Graham
Jock Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 i'm in a similar position my lad was 6 last week and i told him i'd take him this weekend Stick a venkysout t-shirt on him and tell him he's allowed on the pitch when that bloke blows his whistle
Husky Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Does anyone know if there's a fan zone for this match? Bearing in mind there's going to be so many people outside the stadium during the game - a killing is to be made.
pk1875 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Does anyone know if there's a fan zone for this match? Bearing in mind there's going to be so many people outside the stadium during the game - a killing is to be made. I would imagine any of the boycotting fans will be advised that they can buy a real pint i a glass from Fox ad Hounds or Ewood WMC once they are down at Ewood. Would be a bit counter productive to boycott then buy from the fanzone bar.
blue kiwi Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 why would you use the fanzone, surely thats putting money in venkys pocket.
Paul Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 so is anyone on this site actually going to attend on Saturday? I will be boycotting like i have been since early December. Good question
47er Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Better than I expected to be honest. Surely you mean WORSE than you expected?
Parsonblue Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Surely you mean WORSE than you expected? Not really. At the start of the week, with all the boycott talk, I thought we might be struggling to beat the "Wimbledon" gate but appears that we are well above that now.
Mattyblue Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Attendance wise, the FA Cup seems to be making a resurgance. 2/3 years ago I remember the hand wringing in all the papers as club after club were experiencing massively reduced numbers for cup ties. Most are expecting good crowds this weekend. The only game that will be missing out on this, will of course, be at Ewood Park.
47er Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Not really. At the start of the week, with all the boycott talk, I thought we might be struggling to beat the "Wimbledon" gate but appears that we are well above that now. that's what I mean---worse.
Parsonblue Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 that's what I mean---worse. Depends on your point of view 47er. Clearly many Rovers supporters want to watch the game which is fair enough I would have thought.
