Over last few days heard a number of rumours that Americans were looking to buy Rovers. Now over the weekend it has been mentioned on ESPN's NFL Live show that the owner of Houston Texans (Bob McNair) was looking to buy Rovers. Not clear if it was him or his son who missed their play off match as was apparently away sorting out this deal (according to NFL Live pundit).

Bob McNair has previously tried to purchase Birmingham and Reading so clearly has had a long standing interest in buying a football club and seems to have been targeting championship clubs.

Excitement tempered with caution, let's face it we know first hand a takeover isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Was just about to say exactly the same. Blackburn Rovers has had it's soul ripped out in recent years and I for one think there are a lot of skeletons locked away that Venky's don't want anyone to see. It won't do to have a potential buyer going through the books with a fine tooth comb.

There are plenty of other clubs in the Champ that would be less hassle to buy and have more potential in the future than an old Mill Town club like ours.

Would love Currie and Battersby to be involved in some form of assistance if indeed there is a takeover etc.

Being no financial expert, haven't Venkys taken on the debt themselves rather than BRFC? They haven't got a prayer of ever making their money back so surely it would be best to write it off as a bad investment and get rid when possible....

It won't happen but I'm just trying to make sense of what is left in it for them... Only Ewood and Brockhall now hold any value surely?

I meant to mention this a while ago - how far removed/ completely directionless are the Sales/Marketing team at Rovers to believe that a cheer leading troupe is going to have any effect whatsoever on the atmosphere at Ewood. Talk about sprinkling glitter on a steaming pile of dogsh*t.

If the rumour is true that it is him, then no doubt he will have done his homework and must realise that if he wants the same sort of set up in English football , he will need to get to where the money is first , Something that Desai and dumb and dumber do not seem to have grasped

Whatever the news (and of course I remain hopeful) missing a Divisional playoff game in the NFL is a big deal.

I have no idea if these reports are true but I have got in touch with someone at the Houston Chronicle and she is going to check this out over the next day or so and get back to me so might have a better idea then.

It is clear that he did make serious attempts at buying Reading and Birmingham, seems he even came across to watch a Birmingham match. So clearly an interest in buying a club. No idea what scuppered those deals though.

That article predates Houston Texans reaching the playoffs in both the 2015 and 2016 seasons, and spending big money on a QB, that admittedly hasn't really worked out.

Reached the playoffs this season without their most influential player! (JJ Watt) who was injured most of the season.

Also, the Texans only started playing in 2002 and a lot of their losses came in those first few seasons. So it does feel a touch harsh.

The Super Bowl is at their stadium this year.
