Very disappointing tonight as on the balance of play the least we deserved was a point. Arguably as well as we've played all season BUT we lost and conceded 2 goals AGAIN.

For me Coyle has to go before Saturday if we've any chance of survival. We all know we haven't got the best squad ever but there are so many basic things we don't do that if we did them better under another manager we'd have a better chance of survival. We can't defend. When we 've got the ball no-one pulls out to give their team mate an easy pass. When we have the ball in good positions  neither forward attacks the ball and we don't get enough bodies in the box in general.

All credit to Charlie Mulgrew just came on Radio Rovers and didn't try to dress it up at all told it exactly how it was in contrast to the interviewers who were blathering on as if things were a minor blip etc

Not a great match and not much between the teams.  I thought Leeds would have been much, much better.

Quality opener for Leeds with Nyambe left exposed.  Great strike, again, from Bennett to make it 1-1.  Absolutely woeful marking from us for Leeds winner.

Steele will get caught out soon by an eagle eyed linesman, almost every time he kicks out of his hands, he's outside the area.  Nyambe showed his naivete on several occasions and we are crying out for a bit of experience and guile at right back.  Feeney disappointing and deservedly pulled off.  Have seen Lowe play much worse than tonight and stay on the field, tonight Coyle pulled him.  Mulgrew composed and mostly used the ball well though doubt he was fit, looked slow and ponderous particularly in the last 30 minutes or so.  Bennett was the one shining light - looked sharp and bright and capable of making things happen.  Joao missed an absolute sitter when he came on.

Attendance about 14,000.  Almost 7,000 from Leeds, about 1,100 in Riverside, about 1,800 in BE and about 4,000 in JW.  Heard some comment that gate was reported as 17,000 - absolutely laughable.

Beat QPR and win at Rotherham and we will be okay.

Some gossip tonight that Marshall fee just short of £400,000.

Now for a nice nightcap !

Captain elect IMHO

Duck egg was how I described him. Skying that knock back from about 8 yards was criminal.

Why the hell was Nyambe left to mark two men for the first goal and for the second who would have thought that marking the big centre half on a corner would be useful?

Also Gallagher was nullified today - by Owen Coyle, he's not had a single good game out wide.

Good to see he's learning from the best in Coyle though.

Owen being the bloke who is first on the 5-aside pitches and firing the crosses in on any finishing drills. Celebrates his own strikes to in training.

I thought we deserved a point..played well. Bennett had a good game..thought Gallagher should have gone up front after 65 mins.

Monk was pro active and Coyle very reactive.

Mulgrew was good centre midfield and should be captain.

Nyambe did good things today but was caught out for 1st goal but he was left to mark 2 men.

Putting this game into its context though.....

Gallagher is wasted out wide.  Graham's contribution not great tonight either.

Watched our defence and midfield closely tonight.  In my view, evident that coaching is poor and limited.  On too many occasions, our back four are too far apart - not helped by the fact that there's too much space between our defence and midfield which means our full backs can't go too narrow for fear of being further exposed.  A good team will give us a real hiding.

Wouldn't like you to listen to him so here is OC's comments after the game;

Quote

Owen Coyle admitted the result was hard to take as Rovers slipped to a 2-1 home to defeat to Leeds United.

In a match short on chances, the visitors took the lead on 74 minutes when Stuart Dallas drove home.

But Rovers hit back through another thunderbolt from Elliott Bennett, the midfielder following up his stunning strike at the weekend with another long-range effort.

However the visitors stole all three points just a minute from time as Pontus Jansson headed home a late corner to leave the manager hugely frustrated.

"We have let an opportunity pass us by tonight," the manager told Radio Rovers.

"I thought we did very well but ultimately we've got nothing to show for what we put into the game.

"We felt hard done by to go a goal down as we were in total control of the game at the time.

"But we picked ourselves up, we were aggressive and got it back to one each. Then we have a wonderful chance with terrific football as Danny Graham laid it off to young Lucas Joao but it goes over the bar.

"We then should have made sure that we didn't give anything up, so the galling thing it is comes from a simple set-play. It was a good ball in but we've not marked tightly enough and the boy has planted a free header into the corner.

"So it is really hard to take as we put so much into the game. It is so frustrating, I am disappointed for everyone, we should be leaving with at least one point if not the three."

But we're staying up according to you Mercer? Happy days. I'll have one of your Malbec's.

One win in eleven. Rooted second from bottom of championship. Owen Coyle - safest manager in football (despite what Mercer and his bookie will tell you).

Don't think he is now - Senior is now calling the shots.  I think Coyle is on the thinnest of thin ice.

Still think we will stay up because this league is largely cr@p and there isn't a huge difference between top 6 and bottom 6 as recent matches have shown.  I honestly think we will just about have enough despite our very poor manager.  Getting Hoban back and keeping Mulgrew, Bennett, Graham and Gallagher fit will be key.

As for Malbec, I think it's also cr@p.

I thought he showed up quite well initially in open play but that miss was simply inexcusable. Everything was wrong when the ball came to him, body shape, lack of aggression everything. He leant back and side footed the ball over the bar. Didn't look like a footballer at that point. The most charitable thing you can say is he hasn't got a left foot.

Mulgrew is the best player at the club or more to the point the only decent player at the club

What makes the "crap" in blue and while shirts better than crappy teams at the bottom with us?

Desperately unfortunate to lose a game we should have come away with a point from.  Once again our inability to deal with corners is exposed.  This has been a weakness all season and yet still "the best candidate for the job" can't sort it out.  I'll reserve judgement on Joao but first thoughts are he looks about as good as that French lad we had last season.  His effort on goal when Graham put it on a plate for him was laughable.  Bennett looked excellent in midfield - one might ask Coyle where Bennett has been for most of the season whilst we have had to put up with Feeney.  The next two games are must win games.  Beat QPR and Rotherham and we are still in the mix, anything less than six points and I think relegation will become very difficult to avoid.  Lose them both and we are down.

I think we have better players!  I've named five key players.
