Interesting listen and whilst I respect the two Ian's I still fail to see how people see how their offer was attractive to Venky's. The one thing we know about Venky's is they're totally unwilling to share or take order from anyone so why they would let someone run their business for them?

I think the two Ian's would be great people to have involved should the club change hands but their offer last year was always a non starter in my opinion.

Yes LR , I listened to that bit several times to fully understand and I think the big plus for venkys was that they would no longer be required to send money over to meet costs . A line would be drawn and the 49% they would be left with was to give them a chance of recovering some of their debt in the event the Club got promoted by some miracle to the promised land. He then said if that was to ever happen then Venkys couldn't be left with the casting vote. I thought it all made sense because as things stand (and once there is nothing left to sell off )then Venkys will have to either keep coughing up or put it into admin I presume.

Why do people think they will ever put the club into admin?

I currently see it as them trying to run the club's costs down to prevent the debt increasing then ignore it until finally padlocking the ground when it can no longer sustain itself. Just out of spite

They told us they were front loading a lot of the ones still being paid off onto the last set of accounts in order to get the losses down for FFP. Probably just another lie no doubt.

Providing for known future liabilities in the accounts and the cash subsequently going to the player are different things.

So they pay off a contract in one agreed settlement instead of carrying it on monthly over a few years and in doing so pay it up before the end of an an accounting year to get it in that period but there is still cash going out afterwards on the same contract ? Nothing more than figures being crunched ?

Excellent interview.

dont think there's an awful lot there that most of us didn't already know TBH, but it does illustrate that Battersby IS tuned in with the fans, understands exactly what damage is being done, that the club will never succeed under the Raos. He's very knowledgeable about what brings clubs down and has the know how as to how the club needs to be set up to give it a chance.

Someone we could all unite behind. A passionate, level headed, leader.

yep  I think we would be in dreamland if it happened. For me the big thing is and as Den refers to-- he is one of our own as the song goes and right now that's massive. It has to be somebody who gets it and gets the fans and the club and understands what the issues and emotions around the club actually are.

Just listened and it's another excellent interview if very sobering. Oh for that kind of clarity and sense at the club but it'll be a very long time before we see any the place has an intelligence vacuum and the holes are plugged with self serving smarm, If venkys ever wanted the club to be in the image of them then they've finally achieved something.

I can't remember the exact quote but he talks of the people he'd bring in to run the club and though he wouldn't say who, believed the level of experience and quality would be a surprise to a lot of people.

I do wonder who but alas, it's just a dream.

Just wondering .. has anybody met him, seen him and talked to him at games etc.?

I haven't seen any links of him with any of the fan groups which thinking about it is probably a good thing . I'd love to bump into him at Ewood one time and just talk to the guy. Somebody must be sitting next to him!!!
