Stuart Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 First test for Mowbray: failed. Must win game not won. Same mistakes in team selection made. The stats show that we are better off without Lowe, yet he continues to be picked. Over to the apologists to start making their excuses.

chaddyrovers Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Decent point which will give Mowbray something to build. From the commentary on BBC Radio Lancs, the first half sounded very good and that we passing it much better and played some very decent football than we had under Coyle. From the second half we seemed to reverted to Coyle way of playing. Mowbary will be able to get them in on Sunday and keep improving the style of play/formation he wants us to play.

Backroom Tom Posted February 24, 2017 Backroom Posted February 24, 2017 I wouldn't class that as a a failure nor a success. A win would have been absolutely massive but not losing was the main thing with a new boss IMO.
jim mk2 Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 So we didn't go for a Burton and the Brewers didn't droop. A better result for them than us and another game gone. Mowbray's got it all to do.
Backroom DE. Posted February 24, 2017 Backroom Posted February 24, 2017 FWIW Mowbray isn't to blame for the result and won't be to blame if we go down. The blame lies at the door of our owners, who have starved the club of money, talent and proper management structure. We're now at a point where beating Burton Albion is considered a major success. Let that sink in.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Not sure that will be good enough to keep us up.

I'm not sure there are any 'must win' games when you are 2nd from bottom, I do take your point but don't feel it's very realistic, especially on a new managers 1st game. A promising performance, onwards and upwards, n all that
neophox Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 We played well tonight against a good Burton side on a unbeat run.... when everyone in the team knows what Tony wants we Will see... Mahoney must start against Derby.

TM's 1st game in charge, could have been a lot worse.. This was a turning point in our season. Failing to win tonight puts another team out of reach. Burton will be delighted. But as always some will say "it's a point gained". If we want to stay up we have to win specific games. Tonight was one of those.

Lets moaned and whinge again. I knew you would be one of people to do this. It is NOT a failed at all. But lets be negative again.
neophox Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Burton did beat Norwich 2-1 last home game did they?

They are only 6 points ahead. You should be getting behind the players and Mowbray. But you will always be negative wont you
neophox Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Win at home and draw away and we will be safe.

We need snookers and seem to think that normal rules apply. An away point would have been good if we were in control of our own destiny. We now have to win against a much better team than Burton to compensate for tonight's failure. Had we won, it's the kind of game that Mowbray would have called a "vital result". Mowbray either bottled it or deferred responsibility to Dunn and Lowe and they picked the wrong team. This is not a good start. He must make changes to the line up on Tuesday. Picking the same duck eggs results in the same outcome so he needs to do something differently.

We needed all three points and by the sounds of things we could have gotten them. Not Mowbrays fault but certainly not a success.
