Looking at the situation objectively, I think it's fair to say Rovers are heavy favourites to go down. In the relegation zone more or less all season, struggle to win games, concede late and often, best players are injury prone and a manager with little to no support from anybody other than his own staff. It's amazing we've even reached 40 points.

Even on current form, Bristol have picked up 7 out of the last 15 points available. We've picked up 3.

Stop talking sense; as hard as it is to swallow.

The bookies are rarely wrong. I bet most people's heads are fearing the worst if we're honest, especially if the fears over Mulgrew and Lenihan become confirmed.

The bookies are indeed rarely wrong, but Rovers are far from nailed on at the minute. Ask yourself a questions, will you put this months wages on Rovers to go down? Even money at the minute means you would double your money if you did, but of we survive, then you will have worked for a month for free.

I called it a 50-50 shot before last night; if Mulgrew and Lenihan are done for the season then I'd drop that to around 30%. I'm never brave enough to bet big sums 1arC, but it's just my gut feel. I badly hope it's incorrect and the players prove me wrong. Saturday should go some way to giving us an indication, particularly after two defeats on the trot.

It's a huge blow if those two are out. We have had 11 different centre half partnerships this season. I reckon it is the number 1 on the field reason we are in the relegation zone. Just when we are getting some consistency then this happens. This is very worrying in my opinion. Hopefully Lenihan at least isn't out for long. Mulgrew will be at least 1 game, more by the sounds of it.

It is very unlucky that we have been hit with this now. It takes time for two centre halves to work together to the best of their ability.

I am praying it is Hoban and Lenihan on Saturday. That is our best hope.

The bookies got it seriously wrong yesterday by having Reading so long to win.

Don't think our fixtures are really that much more difficult than the others. Forest have the benefit of 4 home games from 6. I can't see us catching Birmingham. A 6 point gap with only 6 games remaining is a lot. We would have to win 2+ and hope Birmingham lost all 6.

Our last 2 games have been in theory the 2 most difficult games of the season in terms of the form and position of the teams we've been against and their records on their own grounds. I'm clinging to the positive in that despite losing them both we haven't been hammered and for 75% of those games have looked solid enough without really threatening too much.

Our rivals other than Burton and Wolves who are now safe haven't capitalised on what we expected would be 2 defeats to Brighton and Reading. We're still in the mix and have 6 games now that don't include any of the promotion chasing sides.

I'm not overly confident because I think there is enormous pressure on our 3 home games as I can't see us winning away. We'll need to win 2 of the 3 at home, starting on Saturday, ideally including Bristol City and avoid defeat at Forest at the least. Villa/Brentford last 2 will be unpredictable anything can happen style games against sides with nothing to play for but who have been on decent runs.

See Bristol have 4 home games as well as Forrest

TF that despite Stroud's efforts Toon still won.

How can any level of Ref make that particular error. Unbelieveable.

In the heat of a game it can be easy for the referee to forget something like how a game should restart but what I find unforgivable is that all four officials didn't seem to know. They are all in communication with each other and a pretty basic application of law was overlooked so I would expect them all to be charged by the FA. The last time something like this happended the charge was less than proficiently applying the laws of the game and suspensions ensued.

Encroachment at penalty kicks is something that very rarely is applied and invariably there are players from both teams in the penalty area when the kick is taken. Following on from this I would expect the referees to be told to tighten up on the encroachment at penalty kicks.

the last time the same thing happened they had to replay the game from the penalty kick, an England women's game  under UEFA rules

Should the Ref have booked Gayle for enroachment and ordered the penalty to be retaken?

I do not think it was a penalty anyway but a disgraceful dive by Gayle worth a booking at least.

Can't stand Toon but glad they beat Burton.

I didn't see what the penalty was given for but the outcome should have been a retake of the penalty and caution for the Newcastle player.

Would a replay of the game not be determined by the result? I remember Graham Polls three card trick at the 2006 World Cup when he failed to show a Croatian player a red card after cautioning him twice. According to a FIFA spokesman at the time there was a strong likelihood that the game would have been replayed if Australia hadn't have won.
