Well if he could get his personal life in order, he will score some goals for us in League One. He might go to Hibernian again.

The whole Stokes scenario has been nothing but a ploy IMO which Coyle played along with. Get him out of Celtic because they wanted rid of his big wages and bad rep. Get him held somewhere for a while on good money whilst all this Elvis crap blows over then get him into Hibs who couldn't afford to get him out of Celtic in the first place.

A pay off would be icing on the cake to pay his fine then he' ll take less coin in wages from Hibs or go there on loan.Agents scum yet again.

There's something very strange about it. He's fired a few in for the reserves.

Funny how so many weird goings on, or odd/costly appointments at Rovers do have that Scottish connection (Coyle, Kean, Goodwillie, Stokes) We are very charitable towards these wee lads.

They certainly throw a lot of favours Glasgow way.

 loans of PL club youngsters.

Those days (which themselves were depressing enough when we got relegated from the PL) are probably over, PL clubs won't want any decent youngsters playing in League One. We'll be borrowing youngsters from teams like Bristol City and Barnsley instead. Frightening.

Was that Seniorspiv's partner I saw with facemask on Sky?

The one with the knowing smug grin as the game finished.

Parasites.

Rebuilding a team?

Christ on a bike will some never learn.

Stokes could be around for a while yet , he has a contract and I can't see that many takers for him, ultimately he may have to be paid off once Lenighan , Evans , Graham , Mahoney , Feeney have been sold for (relatively low) fee's

Isn't he one of the brighter prospects? This isn't sounding good.

He'd been announced on the available list 3 weeks ago, think injuries have hampered his progress and he;s barely played this season.

Isn't Feeney here on loan?

What about Wharton?

Out of the existing squad:

Raya

Nyambe Wharton Ward Williams

Mahoney (or new RM) Lenihan Tomlinson New LM

2 new strikers.

Sadly ii fear we might be lumbered with Stokes but if he ever got his head in order he might be a threat at League 1 level. If Graham stays We'll have to invest in a mobility scooter after another close season of allowing himself to get out of shape.

We probably also need to sign a right hard barsteward for central midfield and one of the forwards might need to be a big ugly bruiser who also knows where the back of the net is.

Am assuming Mulgrew will be off but if we could keep him I'd obviously have him either at CB alongside Wharton or in central midfield alongside Lenihan/Tomlinson.

If we can keep  Lenihan, Raya, Tomlinson, Wharton, Nyambe & Mahoney we will have the nucleus of a decent young team that could do well in League 1. They'd obviously need some gnarly old pro's alongside them though. Would love to keep Mulgrew, Conway(still think he's an asset if we could get him properly fit and in shape) Graham (same as Conway) and maybe Williams. Think that's about it. We need a lot of players before pre=season starts.

Watched the play-offs Sunday night at Fleetwood and League 1 is like park football, up and at 'em, in yer face, 100 miles an hour and tough. I thought there was a marked difference in quality even with the Championship. Not good to watch!

How do people know everyones wages?

l have seen listings of all Rovers players but from a few years ago and those named are well gone apart from one or two.

More recently it's reported that the average Championship player earnings are £4,059 a week (£211,068 a year). If Rovers are as reported 9th in the wage league then not a bad figure to start at.

https://www.quora.com/How-do-footballers-get-paid-Do-they-get-their-weekly-wage-even-when-there-is-no-league-match-during-that-week

Just see another saying it's average over 300k

Football Manager has the wages for most players pretty spot on apparently. So if anyone has a copy of this years game could they list how much our 'heroes' are getting?

Just seen a report suggesting L1 average wage is less than half of that in the Championship. Can anyone verify?

Thought Mowbray signed an 18 month deal?

Prepare for a ludicrously unorganised summer and last minute panic.

Thanks

He did I keep forgetting to mention it!

An article was linked a couple of weeks ago then again yesterday. Average player salary in League 1 was £70k in 14/15, in the Championship it was about £325k.

Not many I would be bothered about keeping but Elliot Bennett would be one.  Always gives 100% and seems a good lad to have around a club.

Forgot about him. He's been one of our best players in recent weeks. Dreadful passing at times but he's been almost Savage-esque in the way he's got in the oppo's faces.

From what I remember (don't have the game open atm), Mulgrew is our top earner on £14k p/w on there, Lowe and Graham on £12k. Akpan £7k. That's all I can remember, will have another look later.
