[Archived] News Article -> Long-Serving Doctors Leave The Club

Recommended Posts

Long-serving Blackburn Rovers club doctor Dr. Phil Batty has left the club after over a decade of service. It is believed the former Manchester United deputy doctor, who joined Rovers in 1999, is to reunite with former Rovers chairman John Williams at Manchester City.

In 2003 The Guardian's football gossip column "The Fiver" reported that Dr. Batty, incensed at the sending off of Steven Reid against Bolton, "took a leaf out of fellow practitioner Dr David Banner's book when he 'ripped a dressing room door clean off its hinges'". Later, however, it was reported that John Williams had contacted the paper to inform them that Dr Batty had simply forced a locked door open with the knowledge of a steward.

In January 2005 Phil opened the successful Physio4U consultancy at Beardwood Hospital, which is now run by Diane Fevre, wife of club physio Dave Fevre.

Academy doctor Chris Mowbray also left the club earlier this month after 12 years' long service and fitness coach Adrian Lamb has joined Aston Villa, leaving the club not just in the hunt for new talent on the pitch, but off it, too.

BRFCS would like to thank Phil, Chris and Adrian for their contributions to the club and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
