Eddie1363894574
Blackburn's campaign has got off to a losing start following a 2-1 home defeat to Wolves. The opening match started with David Hoilett nearly putting Rovers in front and the home side would take the lead on 20 minutes thanks to Formica's controlled finish, only for Fletcher to rise above Salgado at the far post to head Wolves level just 90 seconds later. Salgado's day would go from bad to worse when he clumsily brought down Jarvis at the start of the second half. Robinson guessed the right way and saved the penalty, but Rovers failed to clear the ball properly and Stephen Ward showed good technique to volley into the corner. As the match continued Rovers tried to draw level, with substitutes Rochina and Goodwillie both shooting narrowly wide, but the match petered out and Wolves comfortably saw out the final few minutes to claim the spoils.
