The sides had gone in level at half-time, but Rovers collapsed after the break and were emphatically beaten by a City side that could have scored more. Adam Johnson opened the scoring with a wonderful curling effort from just outside the box, before Balotelli, Nasri and Savic would add to Rovers' misery. The performance of Junior Hoilett will have been one of the few positives for the home side, but will be little consolation following a performance where the second-half defending can best be described as school-boy and amateurish.
