Eddie1363894574
Rovers and Chelsea go in level at the break after a first half where Chelsea have dominated possession, but where the home side have often looked dangerous. Chelsea started brightly, but it was Rovers who created the first real chance of the half. Hoilett slipped Formica in behind the Chelsea defence and the Argentinian unselfishly squared the ball to Yakubu, but the Rovers' striker shot wide when he really should have done better. Cech was hurt in the process, but the goalkeeper was able to continue despite initial fears that it could be a serious injury. Chelsea felt they should have had a penalty when Sturridge went down in the area after getting goal-side of Samba, but Mike Reid saw nothing and pointed for a goalkick. The away side bossed possession, but Rovers continue to look threatening when they get forward. Christopher Samba had to go off just before half-time with what looks to be a hamstring injury. The Rovers' captain was replaced by Grant Hanley. Whist the football was entertaining, it is quite possible that the biggest talking-point will be the "Steve Kean Out" banner that was flown over the ground during the first half. The club had prohibited the use of banners either before or during the match, but the plane will not have gone unnoticed.
