[Archived] News Article -> 2011/12 FA Cup Full-Time: Newcastle United 2 Rovers 1

Recommended Posts

Rovers continued the trend of blowing a lead and losing in stoppage time as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Newcastle United.

The home side had dominated the opening proceedings, but it was Blackburn who took the lead when Krul could only parry Hanley's header and Goodwillie was in the right place at the right time to fire home for his second goal in as many games.

Newcastle United continued to press in the second half and got back on level terms when Ben Arfa beat several players before firing home from the edge of the area. Despite the continued pressure it looked as if the match was headed for a replay, but with injury time running out Gutierrez finished off a neat Newcastle move by clipping the ball over Bunn.
