Eddie1363894574
Arsenal hammered Blackburn Rovers 7-1 in today's early kick-off. The home side took the lead only 80 seconds into the match and added the 7th just before the final whistle whilst dominating virtually every minute of the game in-between. Van Persie scored a hat-trick, Chamberlain added two and Henry and Arteta both chipped in with a goal each. Pedersen scored for Rovers, curling in a wonderful free-kick that levelled the score at 1-1, but that was the only positive for the away side in what was an entirely forgettable performance that saw their goal difference drop below that of relegation rivals Wolves. To add to the embarrassment of conceding seven goals, Rovers also had Givet sent off in the first half for a two-footed challenge on Van Persie. Rovers can have few complaints about the result as they were torn apart by an Arsenal that combined incisive passive with clinical finishing.
