I travel into East Manchester via m61 most days. Most mornings it's solid from Bolton to the m602 at best. At least an hour.

Luckily I go left where it meets the m60, but it still costs me 30-40 minutes.

Will there ever be any progress in extending the tram lines further out?

If you live in Bury you can hop on and be in the middle of town in 15 minutes.

Underway Laing ORourke and Volker Rail JV about to start and heads to the Trafford centre through Trafford park.

This is now my usual way of getting into Manchester. Park up at Whitfield or Radcliffe (both have big free car parks) and catch the metrolink in. They run about ever 10 mins and it's only a few quid, much less hassle than driving and parking in the centre.
