I don't like to pick at any player unfairly, but I did some research on Elliot Ward the other day. If ever there was a definition of a journey man , it would not be him, as journeymen usually play for their clubs. His entire career is pretty much him signing for clubs ,mostly on loan, and then not playing for them. It would make you wonder why we actually signed him? At 33 now his best days are behind him, and that is extremely worrying. I would definitely look at getting him out somehow. Would others agree?

Never knew he was 33. What a deceiving hair do. Explains why he's so slow.

At the time of signing him both Lowe and Evans were fit and the medical team were left twiddling their thumbs.

We need a New Colin Hendry, at this rate I would settle for the Colin of today though!

A defender that can and more importantly likes to defend would be nice tbh.

I'm sick of us signing/settling for players who can 'do a job' in a position, just sign some specialists for goodness' sake!

Ward was a poor signing by Lambert but he was probably in the category of cheap back up although no doubt they got him in on a good contract that doesn't match his ability. Jobs for the boys has been a recurring theme under Vs just too easy for managers and their agent pals to foist a mate or 3 onto good wages at Rovers.

I know it happens but not to the extent it keeps happening here. In the case of Ward though his wages can't be astronomical otherwise they'd have had him through the door but then again who would want him ?

He's a big ponce.

They don't come along like that anymore though sadly the game doesn't allow his type to flourish they get it drilled out of them, not allowed to breath on your opponents. Instead you get a generation of ball watching defenders who'll wait until it's in their space before clearing it rather than the that ball is mine, me first mentality.

Yep. Leicester won the Premiership with 2 old fashioned centre halves who just clicked that season, coincidence?

Lenihan not in the squad again..... zzzz getting boring now, hes not exactly the worlds best defender. Cash in take 1.5-2mill then rebuild the back 4 with the cash. Or at minimum 2 new CBs.

If he's going it'll be stage managed so it's a late one on deadline day and that cash then covers what's been spent. It's the Venky way and it'll happen if not him then someone else I can't see how else a club with our financial probs could suddenly go out and spend without some guarantor of it being covered.

That being the case it may well open up for Wharton to get a look in once a wage space has been made, lots of rumours about his contract situation and wouldn't be surprised if one of the usual suspects has that stitched up good and proper hence why he's not getting on for league games yet.

Sure I read on here somewhere he has damaged his metatarsal, that would take a good while to heal if he has.

Absolutely thought he'd actually left last season then surprised to see he's still here.

You realise when this happens it'll be called hindsight.

For now, stop being so negative!:rolleyes:

I was expecting that question :)

I imagine they will have to be very transparent about the fee after all the talk of only selling if a valuation is met

Transparency and Blackburn Rovers aren't two things that work well together. Expect Cheston to spoonfeed a few dollops of BS to the Telegraph who will then print 'believed to be in the region of £x' stuff aimed to try and convince supporters a good deal has been had for the club coffers and that we simply had to sell him for such a price.

Like with Marshall when they tried to con us into thinking we got millions for him and it was a good deal for Rovers when we got nothing of the sort.
