Who's getting close to a chance? Would seem to be Rankin-costello and Tomlinson, but who else? Mansell seems to have dropped out of the picture considerably when at one time he looked highly promising?

The two with the biggest chance are Jack Doyle (left back/ left wingback) and as you say Willam Tomlinson who we all know about....they are both ready physically and are 19/20 years of age so should be pushing

Rankin-Costello is ahead of his curve in terms of his development but has only just turned 18 at the end of July so maybe later into the season, what could get him in the 1st team squad is his versatility being able to play anywhere from back to front may help apart from goalkeeper even though he is preferred mostly as an attacking midfielder he played there against MUFC u23s Saturday and set up another goal in the 1-1 draw...which if we had taken our chances it could have been 3 or 4

Lewis Travis will travel with the 1st team squad tomorrow and is another who can play in a few positions Right back...Right wing back and holding midfield....he had an outstanding game on Saturday against MUFC u23s in midfield so hopefully he will get a chance by the way it was a United team that contained 5 academy graduates that have either played for their 1st team or been in match day squads and 2 players who had loan spells at Championship clubs last season....makes you wonder why we insist in bringing in other clubs youngsters on loan when we have more than enough talent of our own it's a strange one for me

Lewis Mansell has had a frustrating pre season and has been injured for most of it...he played his 1st minutes of pre season Saturday against United and had a golden chance to win it in the last 10mins but the keeper saved well...he needs to kick on this season especially with the arrival of Joe Nuttall who will challenge for the forward positions with Mansell
