Ricky Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 There was a discussion on the transfer thread about players who have moved on recently and done well. Lead me to thinking of our strongest 11 still playing. We may struggle in some positions but it would be an interesting one to look at, gone for a 442 to keep it simple. Remember they must still be playing. for a starter: GK - Mark Bunn RB - Ben Marshall CB - Phil Jones CB - Michael Keane LB - Martin Olsson RM - Alan Judge CM - Stephen N'Zonzi CM - Tom Cairney LM ST - Anthony Modeste ST - Niko Kalinic Others: Gestede, Rhodes, King, Morris, struggling for a left winger but apart from that it's not a bad side at all. Keeper seems to be the weak area which probably comes down to the number of poor keepers we've had. Steele, Kean, Bywater, Eastwood could all have got the spot I guess.

Backroom Mike E Posted August 23, 2017 Backroom Posted August 23, 2017 Struggling for a left winger? You named Morris
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Just now, Mike E said: Struggling for a left winger? You named Morris Or King at a pinch.
Ricky Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 I wasn't sure if we had a better left winger playing at a higher level Mike. Morris has done very well at League 1 but no higher.
Bigdoggsteel Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 We could just go 4-3-3 and play King and Kalinic either side of Modeste.
RV Blue Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Does Anthony Pilkinton count? He was here as a lad wasn't he?
Bigdoggsteel Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Could put Samba centre half and push Jones to midfield
Swanson Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Morten Gamst is still playing, think he had 2 assists this weekend.
Backroom Mike E Posted August 23, 2017 Backroom Posted August 23, 2017 Pedersen still playing on the left?
Bigdoggsteel Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Not a bad team all the same. A good keeper and left winger and could be midtable Premier league

Mark Atkins' Bald Patch Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Jermaine Jones would be worthy of a place I'd say.

JacknOry Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Hoilett, the other Olsson, not sure how Petrovic is doing these days, Hanley, Duffy could all push for bench places. Also Shay Given would be number one or backup keeper. Without a club currently but technically not reitred.

Who is this Bywater who played for us?
Ricky Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 Well spotted. I meant Frank Fielding, for some reason I've always mixed the two up.
Bigdoggsteel Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Who would be the manager? Has to be Sparky, right?
