philipl Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Harvey is dropping out of the news but the mess left behind is extremely toxic and the Environmental Protection Agency has not been called in. In contrast to Obama and Christie hugging after Hurricane Sandy, Trump has not even answered telephone calls from the Mayor of Houston. Irma is now headed towards Florida https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DI83JVoXgAAEQ7n.jpg

Husky Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I heard Hurricane Aileen was a shocker. Leaves all over the place apparently. Stay safe guys.
philipl Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Something for the UK and Ireland to be scared about. For the first time ever, a mid-Atlantic hurricane turned right instead of turning left... The number and size of Atlantic hurricanes this summer was unprecedented. The Med reached nearly 29 degrees. Hurricanes form at above 26.5 degrees and usually sea water temperatures in these parts max out at 26 degrees. No hurricanes in Malta this year but twisters which are quite common off shore this year came onshore. One touched down as a tornado just after closing time and ripped the roof of a Lidl supermarket. And just to make you all jealous. After about ten days when temperatures maxed at 16 degrees, today is cloudless and 27 degrees in the sun, 23 in the shade...

What weather do you get in the winter months Phillip? Do you get sunny days, or is it cloudy, and at what time of year does it become warm at night?
philipl Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Usually there are a few weeks in January/February that can be miserable- temperatures down to 8 on a cold day. Problem is with high humidity and a northerly wind it feels MUCH colder. Otherwise we get days like today. The temperature today was crazy for December but brilliant sunshine and something like 20 is probably one day in three at this time of year. It was warm tonight- wandered round the Christmas market without a jacket or coat. Usually it stays warmish at night until the solstice but doesn't get balmy again until April.
