I haven't been on official away travel since the Full Members Final.

What's it like these days, good coaches with tv and loos? Booze allowed?

The coaches are decent- a loo and comfortable seating. You don't get the TV on. Atmosphere wise- it's non-existing. I prefer the bus which runs from my local- it's a bit more lively and usually stops off in a location full of pubs, close to the ground.

If you just want a quiet journey, I'd say it's the way to go. Though admittedly, it must be over five years since I used it.

No chance they will allow booze, nor would most companies these days.

We went on a trip to the dogs recently and the driver wouldn't let us take beer on, for sporting events if caught with alcohol on board it's huge fines for the driver / company and just not worth the risk

If you was that way inclined you could perhaps smuggle a few on in a rucksack don't advertise it & make sure you get rid of empties or even a couple of small pop bottles mixed with spirits. What the eye doesn't see.
