Was just re-reading Paul Hunt's leaked letter. Although Hunt was only ever Deputy CEO (who was the CEO?), I suppose it was clear back then that control over club matters was either nonexistent, or intended to lay elsewhere.

Hopefully those dark times have been and gone, and hopefully the new CEO gets the remit to do the job properly. If he's expected to be just another stooge or token staff member, then I suspect we'll find out fairly soon. Time will tell.

The plausible alternative to Mowbray himself appointing Waggott is that Venkys like Mowbray and so decided their best chance with a new CEO was to find one who recently worked at the same place as Mowbray. The logic being that Coventry City is the place to look for new managers/coaches/executives because Mowbray has turned out alright for them so the rest will.

Dont see that either.

Maybe Cheston or Slivester recommend him or we use a recruitment agency to find a CEO as Pasha wont be around as much as he has been.

We now have CEO with loads of football experience and knowledge.

I think they are learning though.

Less than 12 months ago we had Owen Coyle as manager under no pressure whatsoever, despite relegation being obviously on the cards, lest we forget.

Be good to see someone with authority sat in director's box and if we are on the up Ewood crowd can concentrate more on on-pitch than off-pitch issues.

Summer Accountant's Review obviously made a central man a main recommendation so maybe they took a part in the appointment. Whoever though doesn't matter. We just need to give team our support to win football matches and the rest will fall into place.

Oh ...if life was as easy as your last sentence.

For the lower leagues you mean.

The guy doesn't seem have achieved much where ever he's been bit like Mowbray and his backroom team.

Met my friend at the Ricoh for Cov City vs. Wycombe (good game, worth seeing the highlights) and my friend was not complimentary about Waggott. Mind you, he was one of a few who had to work under SISU.

What a goal from Doyle :o

  • 2 weeks later...

No surprise all really as they hired a communications expert once over then banned him from communicating.

This CEO will soon find he can only offer advice when asked for it and only make decisions when he's been told what they already are.

Then again he might have been hired for something completely different ...........

Didn't TM confirm he has been hired to handle the transfers in future... apart from this particular window.

So he will be making an A list and a B list - depending which division we are in next season and who the manager (or head coach) might be.

List A - Championship under Tony Mowbray.

We will need a new team if we are to survive.

As the game against Hull showed, we are only relegation level at best or probably only third division play offs level.

List B - Third Division under David Dunn

We will need a new team after the better players are sold due to the failure of the one season only chance

If he looks through a few drawers he might find one of Gustavo Fring’s early drafts.

It’s been a good few weeks now, still not a word from the new CEO.

Fan engagement still clearly a long way down on the priorities list.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/15780199.Blackburn_Rovers_appoint_Steve_Waggott_as_new_chief_executive/

“I am both delighted and honoured to be appointed CEO at a club steeped in football history.

“As CEO, I will pool all my previous football knowledge, skills and experience to work with the owners, the management team and staff, both on and off the pitch, plus the supporters and the many stakeholders attached to the club to continue to build a strong and stable platform for future growth and success.”

In theory a new CEO has to be a good move.

Surprised by his complete lack of communication so far but better than this time last year when we had a DOF desperate for attention.

Who knows how it will turn out.

Never trust a Venky!

Good point. Fans who complained about Senior because he was saying too much ,are now complaining that the new CEO isn't saying enough. Comical.
