I can’t help but think they did this to appease season ticket holders ie ‘bring a friend.’ However as a season ticket holder I just want to see the ground full at the minute whatever measure it takes.

Exactly mate. I wouldn't care if they let 'em in for free*

How many ex-season ticket holders or ex-regular attendees do I know whose reason is simply “I’m not watching that ****”? Probably all of them.

My uncle cracked me up, when we offered him a free ticket, beers and a pie on the house + a lift in and out, his answer was “I’d shut curtains if ‘twas on ewt front”.. :)

Expand

So are we playing well, just gone 18 unbeaten and top of the league?

Or are we **** who fans wouldn't watch if ''twas on ewt front"

Most of the ex season ticket holders I know who watched us in the 80s but stopped over the last couple of years haven't magically gone back because we are successful as some predicted they would.

If there's an option for away games only since Kean was given a new contract for relegation then I'm in that one. I'm young enough to be confident I'll out live Venkys and be back one day, though.

Same as a good few I know these are hardcore fans who stuck with it until a few years ago then as one put it after they'd sold Rhodes then Lambert gave notice a few months later 'they are taking the piss it's quite clear now, enough is enough'.  Never been since and won't do promotion or not, i'd love someone to tell that that to his face he isn't a proper fan !!!!

“significant level of support boycotting”

Its just not true Hasta. Never said ‘nowt about people being **** fans, it’s just a convenient excuse for many who’d be back before the owners leave if the level returns to their expectations. Many, not all.

We know that there is a significant level of support boycotting Ewood.

Going £5 a ticket for the Peterborough game on 21 April will probably get 25,000 on and set us up for another bumper crowd v Oxford for the last game of the season at normal prices.

Not a chance. We struggled for that amount when we didn't have the Pune keaners and PL football. 15 / 16 thousand perhaps, never 25.

A few are boycotting, some were PL fans, some always were floating fans so will come back if and when they fancy a game.

However, the biggest group are those that stopped for whatever reason and have now found other things to do with their life, they on the whole won’t EVER be back and for a club with a limited fanbase to start with that’s a big issue.

It is extremely difficult to get folk back in the habit once out of it, a post Oyston Blackpool will find the same thing.

This has just jogged my memory that I have a Rovers home shirt in a drawer still in the polythene bag, never opened or worn.

The missus got it me 5 xmas's ago. She didn't really understand the Ins and outs and I always had the latest shirt and wore it religiously to every game.

Pretty sad  that as I sit here eating my cornflakes. ? But that's what 2010-2012 did to me. Bloody Venkys.

Going to find that shirt and wear it this summer.

Edit : It made me that sad I had to find it before I went to work. Umbro unsponsored shirt. Nicest Rovers shirt Is have ever had, actually.

You haven't noticed that our average gate in the mid to late 2000's didn't drop below 25,000?

It was exactly 25,000 in the season Venky's arrived and Kean was appointed.

I think that would be pushing it Phil, even at a fiver a ticket. I would settle for a gate of 20k but feel 17-19k would be more realistic.

I thought you were a teacher?

Maybe grammar isn’t your forte.

Grammar is certainly not my forte. Since you’re interested in my career obviously (as you reference it enough) my specialism is music. As this forum is about our “Blues” and not “the Blues”, I fail to see relevance to my private/personal enterprise!

If you think confusing the wording on a sentence is more relevant to the disagreement I’ve had with Phillip, that’s your decision. It’s also worth mentioning that TP (who is offering some actual substance to this thread) mentioned;

Ergo - a “****” fan. Perhaps if you’d spent more time reading the discussion, I wouldn’t have to explain.

Anything to add to the argument that most non-attendees aren’t actually boycotters? If you prefer, I think I used the wrong “Their, There or They’re” at some point last week, let me know when you’ve found it. PM me though, because I’m sure 99% of this forum would find it absolutely mind numbing.

I don't doubt that there are quite a few principled boycotters out there, fair play to them for sticking to their guns.

Problem is though, it's hardly applicable to everyone that's no longer there on a match day!

Apology accepted. Although it’s Hasta you should direct it at. You accused him of calling our fans shit when he wasn’t.

(Not that I’m his boyfriend or anything  )

Nearly half the team is borrowed players so good luck to those who and think they are watching Rovers as the debt just keeps on growing.

Posted

We only had 3 players on loan in yesterday’s match day squad.

Payne, Armstrong, Antonsson.

Dack would have taken one of these spots had he been fit so I’m not sure we can say half.

with regards Payne and armstrong the fact they are on loan is because they are unavailable for permanent moves and are better quality than maybe what we could have other wise brought in.
