Plymouth is one of those far flung places I've seen us play many times over the years.

First time I went we got beaten by Tommy Tynan, I think he scored 4....

Second time I went Scott Sellers scored from a corner and the entire Rovers following that day hid behind a wall at the back of the terracing as golf ball sized hail battered the away end, think we drew 2-2.

The quirky thing about home park was the away fans left the ground by walking around the pitch and exiting through the home end, it wasn't safe to leave by the steep steps at the back of the away end.

Anyway enough of that, run to continue today, another Rovers win

1-3 Rovers

True ,  after a draw 1-1 we were escorted along the side of the pitch after the game ...

We equalised late on , think it was 87 .

Plymouth are top of the home form table over the last 6 games - 5 wins and a defeat to Wigan in a match they were the better team by all accounts. The Wigan game was their only defeat in their last 10 games home or away. It won't be easy.

I would be surprised if he played Dack, Payne and Armstrong away from home against a good team. We might see Conway back in the team for his defensive abilities.

Mulgrew will be a big miss. I thought Downing and Williams looked a bit ropey midweek.

I'd take a 1-1. Not confident at all about this one.

Regards

A cheerful soul. :)

They seem like a confident crowd. Most of them going for a high scoring home win. Hard one to call in my opinion but we have good form away so will go for a 0-1 win to Rovers. Dack to finish off a counter attack. Has been so long since we kept a clean sheet. Hopefully today will see one.

A clean sheet, have you taken leave of your senses?!;)

Hope you're right because we are always good for a goal ourselves. I think it might be a bit backs to the wall today at times. Bennett and Smallwood playing well will be vital if we want to win the midfield battle.

My team would be

                           Raya

Nyambe Downing Williams Bell

           Smallwood  Bennett

Conway            Dack       Armstrong

                         Graham

Subs:- Luetwiler Caddis Nuttall Travis Evans Payne Samuel

I think that's the team he'll play too.

A name from the past. Works with a friend of mine at the EFL now. I'd be surprised if it was his debut though. I have a vague recollection of him playing in a win v Leicester or Hull back in 1990. May (not David) even have scored. Then again, I could be mistaking him for Phil Starbuck.

After checking my 'Jackman's' and a stash of old programmes it appears that it was even earlier than I thought: October '89 in a 2-1 league cup win versus Exeter. Super Atko got both goals in his other life as a right-back. The goal Skinner scored came in a 1-4 defeat to Everton in the Zenith Data Systems cup. A match famous for Claus Reitmaier's one and only appearance for the club.

Going to predict another 3-1 win here. Plymouth look to be a team that's dangerous on set pieces, which is slightly worrying given how much of a weakness that is for us at the moment.

Their number 7 (Sarcevic) looks like their most dangerous player.

Hoping we stick with the same front of 4 as last time out... the movement of Dack, Payne and Armstrong was a pleasure to watch.

Don't understand why one of our best players on Tuesday has been dropped, a key component on our pressing which Walsall couldnt handle, has been dropped for the over the hill Conway.

Seems like Mowbray is over respecting Plymouth, rather than blowing them out the water as we did Tuesday.

Cant understand why conway starts, especially given how well payne played in the last game

He's more defensive and offers more protection to the full backs. It's the same team/formation that has won us all those matches away from home. Plymouth aren't going to sit back and let us attack them like every team who comes to Ewood does. Payne was brought off against Walsall because the left-back was getting into the game more and more.

Maybe they aren't very fit in the last 20mins and we will turn the screw later on with a mixture of craft and pace.

He's shored up one side a bit again by going with Conway and I can understand that away from home, crazy to start that way at home, at least he has gone for some pace and attacking intent down the other flank though instead of Samuel standing there.

Think Wiliams might be in for a tough afternoon and we really could have done with a proper physical centre half to step in for these games, could be the undoing today but hope not <_<

Reckon we'll need 3 to win this.
