dallydally Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Well after Saturday's disappointing result we have to go for it this weekend. My team would be Raya Nyambe Downing Mulgrew Bell Smallwood. Bennett Armstrong Dack Payne Graham If Mulgrew isn't fit then Williams

Bigdoggsteel Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Is Mulgrew definitely back I wonder? Hopefully. He is crucial I wonder how Williams is feeling. His place has been taken literally straight away by Bell. Mowbray probably would have had to delay the move for a few weeks, but Mulgrew getting injured has meant it has happened in super quick time.
philipl Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Simply have to win unless Brockhall is to be returned to its former use...
arbitro Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Another hard, physical game in which Mowbray just has to get the balance right between his artists and soldiers. The game at Oldham was probably the lowest point of the season when we were outplayed and out fought by a distinctly average team who simply rose to the occasion. Hopefully Mulgrew will be back to steady a jittery defence and get us on the front foot. We will score goals I'm sure but clean sheets will give us the best chance to catch the top two.
Mattyblue Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 http://www.owtb.co.uk/topic/50351-blackburn-away/ Have a read of that. Bizarre ongoing hatred of us. Can’t say I’ve given them much thought this past 25 years.

Bizarre ongoing hatred of us. Can’t say I’ve given them much thought this past 25 years. 'When you come down from the Grane Road into Darwen, you enter the failure zone'. Coming from a person from Oldham that's an alarming lack of self-awareness. The last time I went there, I was waiting at some traffic lights outside the Tesco there. A girl left the Tesco and poured vodka into her bottle of Coke. This was a Friday lunch time. Getting the party started early......
Bigdoggsteel Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Weren't they in the Premiership for a season? Was it the year we won it? I can't remember, I never really looked at the bottom half of the table.

They had a bit of money behind them in the late 80's early 90's, from Lee's brewery I think.

Athlete Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Another club struggling for a actual rival seeing as the two big ones have never bothered with them..
benhben Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Must win. At home no reason to not go all out attack. Cant wait for Lenihan to come in alongside Mulgrew. Think this game will be too close for both. Do not rate Williams one bit at centre back I would much rather have a specialised U23 centre back. Raya Nyambe Downing Wharton Bell Smallwood Bennett Dack Payne Graham Armstrong
Dreams of 1995 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 "Shudder at the very name of Oldham Athletic" had me laughing. I do shudder at the name Oldham, but certainly not in fear. What a dive.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 'The Oldham boys are coming' A Club with a history to rival Bury or Rochdale. Stuff these plastic Mancs out of site Rovers. 2-0
tomphil Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 It was a bit of a rivalry back in the day so no surprise if some of them are having a pop one or two of us on here did warn of what to expect at the Boundary Park encounter, a fired up crowd and team, turned out correct. Hopefully we'll return the favour as we owe them and we usually get a good reaction after defeat last Saturdays game can be filed firmly in the bottle job column by manager and players like the away fixtures at Oldham & Southend. They come around every now and again probably on the back of complacency setting in so it might not do any harm if things are shook up. We cannot stroll to promotion we have to attack, kick and punch every game from now on so no excuses for not at least having a good go in this but in true Rovers style it won't be easy. Rovers 2 Oldham 1 13,189
Mattyblue Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Can’t see 13,000, unless Oldham bring around 2k. Category A pricing, so a THIRTY POUNDS walk up price in the Jack Walker.
tomphil Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 They reckon they'll bring 2k - plus they expecting their hooligan element to travel it seems, that should add about a dozen to the gate as well

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Must agree about the pricing for this fixture, absolutely absurd. We need all the support we can get for these home games...way to go Ewood Bean counters!

jim mk2 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Many years ago, I went to an Oldham away game in the Midlands with a Latics supporting colleague (don't ask why). Oldham fans spent the whole match singing anti-Rovers chants, which even he could not explain. I can only conclude it must be some sort of inferiority complex.
Mattyblue Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I suppose for a lot of the 80s they were our only regular derby with Bury, Rochdale, Wigan, Bolton, PNE, Burnley were down in the third and fourth tier.
