Well done on knowing we could get better than those 2. Who had you in mind, Kante and Messi?

Say Kante really fast ten times in a row.

1st thing with corners is mulgrew needs to stop taking them. We lack height and cant have a centre half not in the box

Can we not just sign Samba on a pay as you play deal in the summer and bring him on for corners?

You are right, I can only remember us scoring three off corners this season, and Mulgrew scored two, home to MK Dons and away to Oxford. The other being away to Blackpool, Downing scored.

First half, second half... it's all blurred in my mind at this point. I do agree that we are very poor on corners and have been all season. Short, long, medium... all the same, useless. You could say the same about the formation chatter, really. 4-2-3-1, 3-5-2, 5-3-2, 3-4-1-2, 9-0-1, 6-3-1... it doesn't really seem to matter. We roughly play the same regardless of our formation - slow, boring, plodding, until somebody like Mulgrew or Dack steps up to spark us to life with a little bit of quality. That's going to be our lot this season irrespective of formation, imo, so why spend time worrying about it?

As for the team being more nervous after the boos, I can't say I saw that, although maybe it was more obvious at the ground than it was on the TV. We were terrible before any booing started though, so what was the excuse then? If the players can't handle a small amount of boos or the pressure of playing a smaller team at home then we had better hope we don't get into the playoffs, because they will totally crumble.

I agree to a certain extent - especially on the players needing to react better to pressure. It says a lot that Dack and Graham obviously thrived on that expectation last night - a sign that both belong in the division above at least.

Booing is pointless enough, without it being for complete unnecessary reasons. That’s just my opinion on it, save it for full time, the referee, nasty opposition players and anybody in claret and blue..!

Antonsson scored for a near post header from a corner by Mulgrew.

I would have Mulgrew taking every corner for. Brilliant at set pieces.

Samba is playing for Villa these days

Booing is pointless imo. The players know when they havent perform good enough. We have honest players.

Mulgrew headed home from a corner away at Peterborough. I can't remember off the top of my head who took the corner but Mulgrew put it away and from there we didn't look back. From memory that was one of the very few corners we have scored from this season.

Yes, so that's 3 goals he's scored from corners, more than any other player. Get Dack or Payne taking corners.

Yes we dont many goals from set pieces. Fair enough but booing the players for taking a short corner is going too far In My Opinion.

One minor negative but we are top of the league and still people have nick pick. Really does my Heading tbh all that tbh. Why dont you all relax and sit back enjoy it.

Or just leave the managers and players to their jobs since they clearly know what they are doing see that we are top of the league!

I'm split 50/50 on it to be honest. The booing at corners was stupid. I could understand the "oh ffs" noises of disgruntlement after they kept going awry, but to actively boo a short corner is just ridiculous.

The booing at half time however I could completely understand. I think that was the build up of a lot of frustration stretching back a few games, combined with a performance that was frankly shameful considering the importance of winning that match. No passion, no energy, no desire, no will to win. That's no slight on Bury, our players just were not up for it at all in that first half. As you say, our better players seemed to take it as intended and stepped up as we know they can. The weaker players shrank or stayed the same, as we expect them to. I can only hope Mowbray is taking note of those who can and can't handle the pressure - we won't want to rely on them next season regardless of the division we're in.

haven't I address your 1st point previous post.

Travis didn't cost us tho.

Experiment? what Experiement? its a formation we have been working on in training for months and Mowbray said this pre Bury match in his press conference.

We used 3-5-2 formation in the Oldham to get a draws after being 2 nil at half time and to get a win at Portsmouth.

in certain games we played 4-2-3-1 formation and we been slow in possession and other teams have stop us playing our game. 3-5-2 formation gives us a plan B and different way of playing.

we have 90 minutes to win a game and don't have to win it in the 1st 20 mins, We do start slow and have done for a while. Bennett wanted the ball but Lenihan kept playing it long to Graham. Also think it would have better if we had Whittingham or Travis in centre midfield and not Evans who has been poor all season.

anyway we got 3 points and we are top of the league, lets enjoy the day and relax

We havent in some games, Walsalls the most obvious recent example where weve had 4 pressing from the front.

I dont understand why you think its a suitable plan b, usually plan b is as simple as a target man, maneuvering between 4 and 3 at the back usually requires 2 subs and a lot of shuffling around, they are such different formations. 3 at the back needs specialists, it needs time to bed in which we dont have and it needs to be scrapped for the time being.

Last season it had a degree of success but in massively different circumstances, We were scrapping at the other end of a table, we didnt have the likes of Dack, Armstrong, Payne, Antonsson and Chapman to open teams up, we had 2 defensive wing backs and tried to grind out results. Now the onus is on us and the formation is too rigid, slow and defensive for the circumstances we are in.

We also played Mulgrew on the left, allowing him to step out, now his refusal to drop Williams meant that both of them are not in their natural position. If he wanted to play it so much, surely have Mulgrew and Downing left and right, with Lenihan whose the least comfortable and most athletic in the middle?

I also feel like its nullifying the threat of Dack by leaving him too deep, the wing backs arent naturally attacking enough, Mulgrews not capable of switching the play when playing as the most central of the 3, too many square pegs in round holes.

You seem to not understand the point of a messageboard. People are just discussing the game.

Lets hope Mowbray doesnt have that attitude, you sound like Mercer!

You're the one who has been constantly suggesting a massive formation change from whats got us here in the first place. Surely thats nit picking, rather than you sitting back and chilling...

When did I complain?

If I had several cars and one of my cars was poorer than the others, and I had had many better cars in the past, would I not be correct in stating that it could be improved upon even if I didn't know exactly what models and specs were available at that moment within my budget?

I didn't have anyone in mind because I am not paid to spend all week researching players. That's the point you won't accept.

I think if Nyambe had started at right wing back, with Bennett in the middle and Evans not played we might have had more luck with 3-5-2. Evans is like Lowe without the engine.

Change engine to give a toss and you are 100%  Disgraceful waste of football talent and Rovers money.  He can play he just doesn't care anymore.  Does not deserve the shirt and should never get to pull it in again.

So, was this another game the players rolled up their sleeves and won a game in soite if their manager.  Feels that way.  Crazy, we are top of the division yet it feels like we are underperforming every week, like week after week, game after game particularly at home, like we start every game with Mowbary's idea if how it should be.  Halftime comes and he corrects himself.  Should we manage to get promoted I think we will find ourselves 2 or 3 behind at half-time playing against the better sides.  Can't help but like the guy, love his honesty a!d enjoy listening to him talk football but damn Tony start learning from your mistakes.

Blooming hurry Chaddy, you were putting mulgrew as assistant manager before, saying he was telling the manager what to do,  now youre happy for us to waste every set piece because the boss says so.

So because man city are top of the league, and a domestic final, does that mean their fans can't criticise anything from their game against wigan?

A bit churlish to start crowing that we are top for the moment and going on about the booing too much IMO.

First half, we were poor, not sure how anyone can deny that. If they were booed off at HT (which wasn’t the case across the board, just from a few), then it’s hardly a shocker. Apart from Mulgrew’s free kick goals, our set pieces aren’t really all that and our corners never do that well. Short corners only really work on FIFA, rarely in reality.

I think DE summed it up very well with the fact we rarely play that well, but our better players get us out of jail time and again.

Considering the magnitude of the game and the chance to go top, the whole ground was flat. Players looked off the pace and the fans where quiet and tetchy

Chicken and egg argument, but games like this the players could do with the fans stepping up with some atmosphere to get us going. Ideally it would be the other way around, but it doesn't always work like that.

We will play a lot better than that and lose, so we have to be grateful we got the all important points, which is really all that matters at this point

There's no doubt about it, this squad needs another big overhaul if we go up. Armstrong, Payne, Antonson, Chapman will have gone back to their parent clubs, Conway is struggling in league 1 never mind Championship and could go, Evans could go. So Straight away we need 6 new signings. Then you're going to need upgrades on Samuel, Caddis and Gladwin who frankly aren't good enough in league 1. So maybe 9 new players. Some money will need to be spent via venkys, but will they do it? What they've spent this season they are going to need to triple that probably because they are going to need championship quality players to be competitive.

What's that about crossing bridges when you get to them.  Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The away team bringing all their fans in 1 van obviously doesn't help the atmosphere. But we need to find a way to ignite a bit of atmosphere.

Last nights game was crying out for a spark. A bad tackle, a chance, a shocking ref decision, but it never came. Its games like this were the fans can be the 12th man
