philipl Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 If Bolton's record get expunged, Derby would be the big winners getting into the play-offs. Rotherham and Millwall would be helped by a couple of points relative to Wigan and Reading at the bottom. Quote

arbitro Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 And the paragon of virtue that is Sir Dave Richards isn't so squeaky clean. John Williams was mentioned as a potential partner to Bassini. Why on earth he would get involved with people like this beggars belief. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/latest-news/exclusive-premier-league-boss-s-son-won-series-of-football-deals-1-3308364 2 Quote
philipl Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 In all seriousness, if I were a Bolton supporter I would desperately want administration ASAP. If I were a supporter and an unpaid creditor I would be filing for winding up now. It would focus attention and give momentum for getting a supporters' consortium together. Doing it sooner would make full liquidation and expulsion from the league structure less likely. As things stand these are probabilities rather than possibilities. Bassini will be a fate worse than death which is why I suspect Bassini is in there. 1 Quote
arbitro Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 If Bolton's record was expunged and did have an effect on promotion and relegation it would throw a spanner in the works of professional football. I'm sure that there would be appeals, more appeals and court cases which could take weeks if not months. In normal circumstances the PL and EFL have to know the constitution of each league after the playoffs so planning can begin for next season. I don't think they would have any rules or regulations to cover how to make the number of each league to agreed levels. Would they promote an extra team from each level below the Championship, would they run League One a club down on the normal number? The impact could be huge on lots of clubs. Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 This is serious unprecedented shyte for Bolton...their game against Rovers could very well be their last in their current form of a club, there's a thought! Not good at all. Quote

Probably the 1st of many if they don't get paid. Is he any good? We could do with a full-back or two. Quote
Mattyblue Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Polish international, the commenters underneath the article seem to rate him... Quote

If the league rules are followed then there should be no recourse in law as every member signed up to them. The real legal issue would surely be if the EFL meddle to keep them afloat. Isn’t the easiest option to award Brentford a 3-0 win, which is what happened at Rovers when Boro didn’t turn up? 2 Quote
blueboy3333 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 (edited) I wonder if the Bolton players will be in full kit and kissing the badge while shopping in Tesco's at 3pm? Are supporters recompensed for unfilled fixtures when a ticket/ST has already been paid for? Utter disaster for Bolton. This could be us very easily. Edited April 27, 2019 by blueboy3333 Quote

During his time as owner, Bassini took £1.5m of cash advances from the club without repaying them. We need a “shocked” emoji. Strange how these kind of word combinations always find themselves together. 3 Quote

Boro were also penalised 3 points Relevant rules are below: 12 Retirement and Admission of Clubs 12.1 Clubs retiring from The League pursuant to Regulations 10 and 11 shall retire with effect from the end of the relevant Season, whereupon new Clubs taking their places shall be admitted and be deemed to have been formally elected as members of The League. With effect from such time any new Club shall become entitled to receive a transfer of and to exercise the rights attaching to such share in The League held by the retiring Club as the Board shall direct and each of the retiring Clubs shall procure that, with effect from such date and until the respective transferee Club has been registered as the holder of its share in the Register of Members of The League, the rights attaching thereto shall be exercised in such manner as such transferee Club shall direct. 12.2 Cessation of membership. If a Club (or Clubs) ceases to be a member of The League for any reason (including, without limitation, pursuant to Article 4 of the Articles of Association or by way of relegation or expulsion for disciplinary reasons): 12.2.1 during any Normal Playing Season, its playing record shall be expunged and the number of relegation places from the relevant Division for that Season shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members; 12.2.2 during the period between the end of the Normal Playing Season and the conclusion of the last Play-Off Match for that Season, its playing record shall not be expunged but the number of relegation places from the relevant Division for that Season shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members; or 12.2.3 during the period between the conclusion of the last Play-Off Match and the start of the following Season, its playing record shall not be expunged but the number of relegation places from the Division in which a Club would have played but for its cessation of membership, shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members and, during that Season, the relevant Division shall operate with a reduced number of Clubs. 1 Quote
Stuart Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 So definitely expungement then. Wonder if a team in the top two who could drop into the play-offs might want to pay Bolton’s wages for them? Quote

It is the play off places where Derby lost away to them and the others in contention for 6th didn't which get mixed up. Ultimate irony if Boro miss out on 6th through a club not fulfilling its fixtures- no sympathy! Likeliest scenarios are going to be either Bolton starting L1 with -10 points or L1 being only 23 clubs next season. Having propped Bolton up this long, they will find a way of surviving the next 9 days. 1 Quote

matt83 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Football attracts some nefarious individuals. As an industry it’s rotten to the core. I do sympathise with Noblot and their situation (in spite of the fact we had no sympathy from the footballing world when Anderson/Kean/Venkys destroyed us beyond all repair). If only there was some sort of fit and proper persons test in place to stop it happening. Quote
