SBlue Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 (edited) Apologies if there’s a topic already, thought I’d get the ball rolling. (What’s up with these tags btw?) Sunderland at the moment looking to be suffering from a similar shell shock that we were last season. If their crowd turns it could get funny. Long way to go yet though. Think Charlton are a decent side even with all of the back room troubles. Edited August 4, 2018 by S8 & Blue 1

philipl Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Good luck to Accy Stanley kicking off at home to Gillingham! 1
roversfan99 Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Find Sunderlands favourites tag to be very peculiar. Not even taking into account the negative momentum thats behind them, they didnt have a spine like us, Wigan and even Rotherham had last year, we obviously still had Graham, Mulgrew, Lenihan, Evans, Bennett, Conway, Raya, Nyambe and Williams, and even then we signed quite a few. Yes, Sunderland have been busy reshaping their squad, but are their signings any good? Charlie Wyke Bradford City 675 Th. € Jack Baldwin Peterborough 225 Th. € Tom Flanagan Burton Albion Free Transfer Jon McLaughlin Heart of Midl. Free Transfer Alim Öztürk Boluspor Free Transfer Reece James Wigan Free Transfer Dylan McGeouch Hibernian FC Free Transfer Glenn Loovens Sheff Wed Free Transfer Chris Maguire Bury ? Jerome Sinclair Watford Loan Luke O'Nien Wycombe ? Hardly a revolution that screams title winners. Wyke can score goals at this level but Bradford dont seem overly concerned that hes left. Sinclair has never shown signs of scoring many goals. Maguire underwhelmed at Bury. Baldwin was unwanted at Peterborough, Loovens is very old. McGeough potentially a good addition to be fair. But in general, its nothing more than ordinary. Barnsley, Bradford, Charlton (albeit they themselves are weaker than last year), Burton, Scunthorpe and maybe as a dark horse if everything clicks, Fleetwood all look potentially better going into the season.
chaddyrovers Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Very surprise by Sunderland so far. expected some better signings tbh but I will imagine it will take time and similar to us last season. Good luck to them. Charlton have done well considering the lack of players in their squad I think Peterborough will win the league due to the manager even tho they have sold a couple of quality players It will be interesting to see how Barton does at Fleetwood and the impact he has there. Also think Oxford, Portsmouth and Barnsley will be strong this season Good Luck to Stanley this season.

I agree some of there signings might not be good enough. Jack Ross has a very big job on there. Thought they might have gone for Nigel Clough or someone like that. But I think they still need another 5 or 6 signings to get into the top 6 at all

They are favourites because they are Sunderland in League 1 I think. Fancy Barnsley for the title if I had to choose.
Stuart Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 Swindon have just come from 2-1 down to win 3-2 with penalties in the 96th and 97th minute. Hat trick for Doughty.
West Yorks Rover Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 I see Jack Payne scored the winner for Bradford at Shrewsbury today, good signing for them.
Norbert Rassragr Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Cov City lost despite signing Ogogo from the Shrews. Hope the first Cov Rugby pre-season game goes better since we signed a load of brutal Tongans like Halifornua from Gloucester. We'd all like him to face up against Neymar, put it that way.
chaddyrovers Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Scunthorpe United have parted company with manager Nick Daws. We’d like to wish Nick all the best going forward, and thank him for his efforts while with the Iron. Andy Dawson will take charge of the team against Barnsley on Saturday. A club statement will be released later. https://t.co/qKLNTp70Mr
Backroom Tom Posted August 25, 2018 Backroom Posted August 25, 2018 Charlton having a protest today handing out thousands of bags of crisps to do with as people please
JHRover Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Would Grayson be an option for Scunthorpe I wonder? They were linked with him before giving Daws the job.

I read that Heckingbottom is the favourite for the job. Grayson was linked last season. I think Daws got the job cos of him getting them in the playoffs. But they have lost 3 good players in the summer in Holmes, Townsend and Toney(loan) But my questions is what is the target this season and the budget going forward?
Norbert Rassragr Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Feeney has joined Blackpool a few days ago. Knowing how that club is run he's probably paying them.
JHRover Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Scunthorpe have appointed Stuart McCall as their new manager.

Bigdoggsteel Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Do Bradford have a manager? Nixon keeps saying when asked about signings "need a manager first". His tweets are weird sometimes and not literal. I thought they had a manager
Norbert Rassragr Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Michael Collins according to Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Collins_(footballer,_born_1986) Former Bradford manager Stuart McCall is now Scunthorpe manager.

Norbert Rassragr Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Wiki does say he is a 'head coach', but I don't know if that is some sort of Director of Football type set up.

Backroom DE. Posted November 12, 2018 Backroom Posted November 12, 2018 Shrewsbury have sacked their manager. Wonder if Hurst will end up back there? Bowyer a possibility too.
JHRover Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Merry go round has started today. Phil Brown gone from Swindon, Askey gone from Shrewsbury and Ardley gone from Wimbledon.
Rogerb Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 I see John Filan was an assistant to Askey at Shrewsbury and has also gone
