Hasta Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 (edited) Everybody is very opinionated on here. People are quick to give opinions and not so quick to admit they were wrong. Its now time to own up to opinions you had which have been proven to be incorrect. I'n recent times, my two biggies are:- * Raya will not be good enough to be a number one. We'd have been better keeping Simon Eastwood. * Downing's signing is a knee jerk reaction and will be of no benefit to this club whatsoever. Anyone else want to confess? Oldgregg86 Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 I said Jason Lowe would fade to obscurity. Turns out he's the Mastermind behind Bolton's premier league push Quote
AdamRochina Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 i thought mowbray would be an even bigger failer then appleton i thought signing bell was a waste of time i thought keeping conway and graham when we were relegated to leauge 1 was a waste i thought armstrong would never conisder signing here permantly i general im such a negative sod who is happy to be proven wrong, although i might need to up my gym training times with all this humble pie ive been eating 2 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 (edited) Far too many for me to post in here. I'm wrong about 90% of first opinions when it comes to Rovers! Main two.. Being at Luton when Chris Samba came on for his debut, i looked at my mate and said "you just know he is going to be terrible". I just rolled my eyes and let out a big "FFS" when Mowbray was appointed. Sure there will be plenty more yet! Edited August 25, 2018 by MarkBRFC 2 Quote
RovingRover Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 I thought Peter Whittingham and Ben Gladwin would be a good signings. 4 Quote
Herbie6590 Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Great thread...! As BRFCS podcast listeners will be aware....I said after the Shrewsbury away game last season that a Mr Bradley Dack was “an elegant solution to a problem we don’t have...”. Yeah, well.... Going back a little I expressed incredulity at signing Brad Friedel when we had in John Filan an excellent keeper; I thought Mark Hughes was just topping up his pension when he came as a player, Craig Bellamy was a trouble maker who would ruin the dressing room and that Kevin Davies would be a tremendous asset.... I’m amazed I’m allowed anywhere near our podcasts if I’m being honest...? 4 Quote
Sparks Rover Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 After 2 weeks of that tosser kean , we'd had a couple of ok results and I told my dad I liked the "cut of his jib"......... Quote

JacknOry Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 I thought we were gonna sign Beckham and Ronaldinho Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 I thought David Bentley was a lightweight. Eventually I was proven right but not before that brilliant spell he had for us. Quote
perthblue02 Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 (edited) I once had the opinion that the bastion of integrity the Football Association would see past a multi million pound contract with a business partner and lovely delivered Harrods hampers and never allow a football agency to run a club in their highest league, how wrong I was Edited August 25, 2018 by perthblue02 1 Quote
rigger Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 (edited) I went to see Man U, once in 1974, I knew I was wrong the next day . Edited August 25, 2018 by rigger Grammer Quote
Backroom Mike E Posted August 25, 2018 Backroom Posted August 25, 2018 I thought my gf was wrong once... Turns out she's wrong all the time! ??? 1 Quote
47er Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 I welcomed the purchase of Rovers by Venkys!! For about a week! Do I win? 1 Quote
Backroom DE. Posted August 26, 2018 Backroom Posted August 26, 2018 I didn't think Nyambe would progress as far as he has. Thus far he's definitely exceeded my expectations. Quote
joey_big_nose Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 In the summer I thought Evans was totally finished at Rovers. First five games of the season he has been the best he ever has been for us. 3 Quote
roverandout Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I thought tugay and friedel were pointless signings Quote
deryck guyler's spoon Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I was also totally exasperated by the signing of Brad Friedel. I thought Martin Dahlin would tear up the Premiership and ……..yes, I thought Steve Kean had the makings of a good coach. 1 Quote
Pedro Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 My worst was thinking Fode Koita would bang in the goals. Quote
scotchrover Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 (edited) I thought Paul Ince would be a success, based on his playing/management record. I thought Grabbi was going to be the next big thing, based purely on the price tag we’d paid. I thought Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole were going to lead us into the top 4, when Yorke arrived. The worst one? I thought Kean needed to be given a chance, because of the lack of entertainment value we had under Sam Allardyce. I thought a lot of things. I thought a lot of things that turned out to be damn well wrong ?. Edited August 26, 2018 by scotchrover Quote
Miker Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 I thought Graham was past it at the start of last season, but he went on to prove me very wrong with 12 goals in 35 league starts! Quote

Roverthechimp Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 (edited) Thought Dowie would have been a better choice than Hughes. Was relieved that Sam left as the football bored me stiff. Thought Murphy would be the new Cowans Thought Jason Lowe wasn't that bad (pre injury if that mitigates it at all) Edited August 26, 2018 by Roverthechimp Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 26, 2018 Posted August 26, 2018 Thinking about it I think I would have preferred us to sign Eyal Berkovic instead Tugay at the time. In my defence Berkovic was a really good player. 5 Quote
