Fits the model this one, can play a variety of positions, including cover for Nyambe, has played at England youth level. I think there will have been some sort of discussion about the possibility to buy him come the end of the season. Lad is 23 and hasn't nailed down a place for Southampton so I can see them doing business. Strange how Norwich haven't gone back in there considering their fans seem to rate him.

Strangely could be loaning someone else’s young player to develop our own.

A full season for Travis in League One will be the making of him.

“The club is going in the right direction with the momentum from last season and the start we have had this season. I'm told we have been unlucky not to have won a couple more games."

Love how he says “we.”

Got to love his reference to ‘we’ already.

If Rodwell was a nothing signing, this is definitely one that feels like a very positive one. Shame it’s a loan but I guess that means Southampton want their cake and lend it too. If he does well they can command a bigger fee from us or someone else - or even keep him. But it shows that they think highly of him.

If Brereton signs today too then it looks like we are going for a young line up with the experience on the periphery rather than in the first XI.

Cracking signing!
The team needs layers and options. Reed is exactly what we need in a long season.
Travis should be loaned out until January with an option (Rovers allowing) for the loan to be extended until the end of the season.

Can’t see any agreed fee for January. He’s been down to Ewood for his photo pretty quick though!

RED HAIR! Always get cracking mid-fielders with gingers. Tough terriers!

Really pleased with this signing. Think he'll be useful over the season. Pity it's not permanent, but not the end of the world.

Maybe end of the season if both parties are happy a deal can be done.Although maybe Mowbray has that Trapp earmarked to come in.

If Reed impresses I'm sure a deal could be done with Southampton, seems to be well down the pecking order for midfield and at 23 he is at an age where Southampton will want to make a decision over him, I'd expect him to be sold in the summer unless Southampton get relegated and decide they need him

If travis goes on loan then reed isnt needed if travis develops as we all hope. Thats maybe why reed isnt with an option to buy

If travis doesnt improve in a seasons loan, then maybe we look to buy reed if he is a success
