Mattyblue Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Plus live on Sky, plus no trains (bus replacement). Rovers fans just don’t pay that kind of money in big numbers, doubt we’ll even sell that initial 2,000 or so. Quote

We did debate this the other week didn't we, and it looks as though you were spot on Matt! Quote
JHRover Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Interesting that they've allocated us the lower tier to start with, then the upper tier in the unlikely event we need more. They've recently played Sheffield United and Bristol City at home and gave them the upper tier to start with and the lower tier remained empty. Ultimately Bolton can charge what they want to though with the game on live TV I would have hoped for significantly less than that. Just hope we return the favour and there aren't any away tickets available for less than £30 when we play them at Ewood. Bet there will be though. 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 Aye! It’s a shame more than anything. Obviously nothing we can do about Sky or trains, but £30 is just total nonsense for lower reaches of the second tier and has put to bed any chance of a decent following. Lets just hope Preston (usually £24 or so) stays at 3pm. Quote

JHRover Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I think the whole thing is going to come crashing down around the club's in the next few years. This is completely unsustainable. Charging people £30 for a 2nd division match between two average sides when the game is live on tv is completely inappropriate and rather than see 4,000+ going will probably see half of that go. The only consolation in this is it appears Bolton fans are also being shafted with their cheapest standard tickets at £30 going up to £36 on the upper tier side stands. These midweek games are another slap in the face. Charging £25 and being expected to travel on the appalling motorway network to go to games rather than sit at home and watch on Sky or online. Can't carry on. Clubs might not be bothered with a few thousand less fans because the tv money will make up for it but give it a few years and it will inevitably start to crumble. 7 Quote
tomphil Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 As long as we sell 2.5k it's respectable enough, we should even at those prices NotloB have always been at the dearer end and it's their big local derby after all. They'd shift around that in similar circumstances at Ewood. 30 quid will be a standard price in the Championship in the next year or two and of course it should be a given rule that clubs can charge what they get charged in return ! blueboy3333 Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 A couple of seasons ago Championship clubs got £100k for having a home game on SKY and £10k for an away game. It's probably gone up a bit since. A £30 a ticket that's the equivalent of 3,333 fans. Quote

Interesting that both Stoke and West Brom since relegation have reduced their prices to around £25, I imagined they’d be up at £30. Quote

I'm sure it was dearer at Ipswich last time around as well maybe one or two are waking up at last. Interesting that some of those with the larger fan bases are prepared to do it as well so fair play to them. Bolton have always been the greediest North West club and oddly always the skintest, best way we can repay those that shell out is to finally get a win there and shove it up the Manc overspill scruffs ! Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted September 17, 2018 Moderation Lead Posted September 17, 2018 (edited) We never seem to win there, it's currently going to be a ball ache to get there, it's on TV, it's also £30 despite the latter, their fans have an obsession with us and seem to have manufactured a rivalry with us (the pre-match announcer said 'it's derby day here' the last time I went), they sacked off the reciprocal ticketing arrangement and they rip us off to sit in that hideous bowl of a ground of theirs. With all that being said, I'll probably still go...... Edited September 17, 2018 by K-Hod 3 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 I think the 30 pounds, the travel arrangements and the fact its on Sky Tv will make me watch it on Tv. Going to Stoke and making a full day of it. Quote
JHRover Posted September 17, 2018 Posted September 17, 2018 We had a spell at Bolton where we couldn't go wrong and ended up regularly winning there. In recent times however our results there have been atrocious (though our results against all our local rivals seem to have nosedived recently). Bad, bad memories of that place. Allardyce's last game getting beat with 10 men, getting done 4-0 under Bowyer, our late defeat under Lambert when their players weren't even being paid, their Emile Heskey inspired turnaround, the injury time defeat 1-0 on a Tuesday night. Yes it has been a succession of misery there. The most recent happy memory was Jason Roberts' last minute winner way back under Hughes' management. We seem to be a different animal these days so hopefully that will come to an end but certainly have grown to dread heading to that awful stadium. 1 Quote

Yes, strangely though, they won at our place every time too, it always seemed to be the away team that won, but then for a couple of seasons think we did double twice. We haven't won there since November 2009. Last time we were there, King scored to put us 1-0 up and then Rhodes missed an absolute sitter to make it 2-0 and we had tonnes of chances, mainly through Rhodes. Then they came back and won 2-1 with Heskey scoring the equaliser and Pratley the winner, 2 goals in 3 minutes. Our team that day had the Duffy, Hanley, Ollson Cairney, Marshall, Tunnicliffe, Evans, Rhodes and King starting, with the likes of Conway, Gestede and Dunn on the bench.
