I haven't said that, I've questioned if it is allowed or if they have the right to force people to do it and suggested that there is a lot of assumption taking place based on people's appearances. In many other aspects of life such generalisations would not be allowed.

I know it is done and I know why the police want it that way. My point is if you don't want to be part of it what power they have to force you.

Don't know what power they have besides drunk and disorderly but I've always managed to avoid them.

There is no power to hold you against your will or detain you without reason. You cannot be herded onto a bus because an officer demands it. You cannot be stopped without any reason same for being stopped and search there has to be a reason unless you are about to enter the ground. Clearly landlords can prevent entry into their pubs it’s their decision. I accept that if 500 fans tipped out at the railway station it is likely there would be an escort of some description that’s a common sense factor. The police can offer direction but if there is a public safety issue they will take the necessary steps and action. Let common sense prevail.

Well I got mine earlier, wasn't really in a rush previously but was shocked to see how many we'd sold yesterday. I bought 3 and there was only row 3 or 16 available she said so sell out looks likely this week...

I am afraid around Preston’s ground is crime riddled both the damage and thievery if I was you I would park in Town and walk to the ground, alternatively park and ride options are better be it from the docks or the capital centre

Their standard ‘Plastics’ thread is underway. 

The jist being we are ‘plastic’ because we are taking more for a 3pm game when the club’s on the up than the live on Sky game last time when on a downer (though a fake news photo, as it’s obviously taken before KO, we had 2,500 there that evening).

If this lot are bottom half when we meet at Ewood, their following will be down from when they were chasing the play offs last time  - that’s just to be expected.

Such a bitter bunch.

I don't understand there bitterness. I've never had any reason to dislike or like them. Literally a vanilla club. 

If they won the premier league I wouldn't be bothered. I would just be gutted it wasn't us.

What is all the plastic jibe about. Really are an irrelevance.

‘Largely clueless supporters’. That Worthington chap doesn’t seem to have much in the way of self-awareness. 

Obsessed. They must be jealous, bless them. Can understand why they’re so bitter I suppose, still never managed to achieve promotion to the PL, serial chokers in the play offs, then their arch rivals Blackpool have one attempt at promotion and achieve it first time.

It’s because there were a few folk in Rovers shirts wandering around Fulwood 25 years ago... that’s literally it.

Got my ticket. Will be a tough game, a betting man would say a draw is likely.

 

As far as their fans go, jealous bunch. Blackpool fans i've met are definitely a better bunch of folks, you can actually have a chat with them on good terms. Preston seem to be bitter of any local club who've achieved more than them in recent history... Which is pretty much every Lancashire club in this league.

It ultimately stems from them being so much in our shadow for so long. I can understand the bitterness, I'd probably be the same if we'd spent the last 50 years in the lower leagues always behind at least one (usually more) of Rovers, Burnley, Bolton, Blackpool and Wigan.

For a few years it probably isn't so bad but stretch it out across generations of being in neighbours shadows and it must really gnaw at them inside.

As the self-styled 'capital city' of Lancashire they presumably think that means they should be top dogs and yet they've largely been anonymous since the early 60s whilst the town clubs around them have dined at the top table and in our case won trophies.

I realise I must be wrong though as every time we play them we get about 300 posts on here telling us in great detail how “they’re obsessed with us”

I wonder if it’s just a case of they have a couple of childish prats on forums all day long, something of course you could never expect from our supporters 

 

On their main fans forum tonight we've had:

'I assume they've ended their little protests against the chicken farmers now?'

'Blackburn by name, plastic by nature'

'Horrible set of largely clueless supporters. I do hope we beat them again'

'Not heard a peep from them since they spent a bit of money in the summer. F***ing fickle the lot of them'

I know very few PNE supporters but it's hard not to get the impression from that sample that there is quite an intense dislike of Rovers simmering there with some of their fans. No doubt those comments will be added to considerably over the next 10 days!

I've not seen any comments on here of that variety towards them. They get mentioned from time to time as the derby fixture gets ranked in comparison to our others and obviously we all want to beat them but I haven't seen it reach that level on here, yet.

I've personally no real strong feelings towards them, they're probably similar to Bolton whereby I don't have much time for them but won't worry too much about the result either way as I would v Burnley. I suppose at my age I've always up until last season been in a position were they were well behind us so never really had to take them too seriously.

There aren’t many rovers fans in the picture but there’s not that many of them either. So I assume the point being made is our travelling support is equally as poor has their home support.

I've lived and worked amongst them a lot longer and they hate Rovers with a passion. Envy can do terrible things to a person.

I've worked at various points with PNE fans as well as lived in an area where they were the main local team and I also have a few friends who follow them so over the years you get a good idea of how they see Rovers and our fans.

Don't think hatred is the right word it's a bit different to dingle levels but certainly bitterness would describe it well or maybe jealousy but definitely a lot have that big Rovers chip on their shoulders.  Possibly a generational thing 30-50 year old types who've always seen it as a rivalry from the doc boot days then for all together different reasons in the 90's when every local club got a real dose of the green eyed monster towards t'Rovers !

PNE though are a bit unique as unlike Burnley and Bolton they've never got over it because they've never scaled the Prem heights themselves and we haven't played each other that much over the last 3 decades so they haven't been able to get it out their systems with a few victories etc.

I'd also say chatting to people at the school gates or over the garden fence you'd probably expect polite banter but working with a load of hairy arsed older blokes in a factory when you're 19 and the only Rover they've come across away from a match day gives a totally different feeling to it ......?
