good to hear roversfan99.

a few long balls early doors but we settled down quick and move to pass it feet more.

Disagree on Naymabe, don't think we had any weak players today. no way

Downing pass for the 2nd goal was brilliant and I thought Bannan did Mulgrew with his skill and nothing he could do.

Good to see Dack back to back finally. had a few poor games but he proved his class today.

Yeah you are correct that Armstrong need to learn from Conway how to play that role.

I was shocked by the Joao's strike was unstoppable and came out of nowhere. Still shocked by Sheffield Wednesday performance today.

We played them at a good time Chaddy. They seem to be where we were about 3 years ago. Turmoil at the club.

Total meltdown on there.

Sites like that are hard work. Instead of writing in a manager thread, there will be about 10 different ones on the go.

Sheff Wednesday lost in the playoff final to Hull in 2016, and are now losing away to a Blackburn team promoted from league 1, they expect better and rightly so.

From our perspective, we're doing wonderfully well to be beating teams of this calibre.

I was pleased with being proved wrong, genuinely thought Conway was done after he was hooked after 30 mins in was it the Bolton game. I don’t think he will be able to do that every game sadly but excellent today. Downing was good today but it played to his strengths, his issues have always been pace and distribution, iv seen him kick it straight out of play too many times. But again we’ll done today.

williams/Smallwood are still terrible and must be upgraded soon.

Good that dack and graham turned up.

one game doesn’t make the other messes forgettable, I still have question marks on mowbray.

What’s disgusting is the gloaters going back over concerns pre kick off and saying haha, get a life, 100% justifiable

enjoy the win, could be a long hard December

Honestly that strike from Joao is something special!

We said the same in the pub, but it wasn't as good as Dielnes striker a few years ago at ours to steal them 3 points, 30yr strike, top corner, better than today, gutted....

You can't blame the minority, who are mostly Mowbray fans, shoving it right down the armchair experts throtes when everything they claim, crumbles around them Matty.

Drop Dack, Graham's past it and Conways a ****.

The reaction today after 2 defeats was phenomenal and long may it continue.

            ****Disclaimer****

Wednesday were absolutly shocking.

German?

I was at that game, was a sickener that one. Joao strike is better however, that one took a deflection.

Mad a side note Baptiste scored that day, our last solid and capable full back to my memory

Nyambe was much improved in the second half but much of his play in the first half was pretty clumsy and brainless. Overall id say 6 out of 10 which would probably be the worst rating.

We looked so dangerous playing between the lines, we were creating chances from open play and it was a far cry from most of the games recently. The front 4 all on the same wavelength.

Thought Conway was superb. Just his calmness on the ball, always finding a pass, which was part of the reason there was so few punts up field to Graham as we tried to play through them.

Dack with a rocket up his arse helped too, obviously.

Agree totally on Conway. Thought his intelligence and some of his clever touches anticipating the ball before the full back to take him out of the game showed how cleverer he is than many of the alternatives. We were right to doubt him, he was really poor and leggy all last season and it was only a one off but today took me back to the days when he was easily one of the best wide men in the league.

His decision making was superb too.

I think you are overestimating the achievement in that they have lost their way since then dramatically. Many players are injured, have left or have been frozen out.

That said, for me as much as the result is always the key, the performance and the way we beat them deserved credit regardless of how poor they were.

well well. shame you miss it. Rovers always played well when you aren't they

Hey Chaddy, that's life!

Had a great social day and night though with the latter all the sweeter given Rovers' win which delivered me a net £45 on Rovers' bets!  Winnings went towards extra bottle of Nebbiolo d Alba at my local Italian.  Aint life grand when we win!

I view it more as he’d be driving the team forward from midfield, BUT it would require the other midfielder to be prepared to show for him or mop up.

Mowbray would want two to mop up so he would have to sacrifice a wide player or Dack. Hence my original comment

What a refreshing change that was. We actually went for it from the first whistle and had them on the back foot from the off. We also got people in the box, including Evans on numerous occasions where he normally doesn't move from the centre circle. We played like the home team. Think on Tony...

I thought he'd be dreadful but Downing was very good. The game suited him, a lot of aerial duels which he does well. Still tried to give them a goal with a dreadful pass, but his run and pass for our 2nd goal was Beckenbauer-esque.

Conway was excellent too. Showed the kind of intelligence and nous that AA and Palmer lack. Delighted for the 'bull'. Mogga said he's pretty much a cert to keep his place at the Riverside and so he should. A proper winger playing on the wing. Who'd have thunk it...

Dack and Graham were brilliant.

Well done the team and well done Mogga. First win by more than a goal all season in the league.

SWFC had some talented plyers but were a long way from a team.

Bless him, he looked like a deer in headlights when he was in there though haha

No need for the gloating, I am happy as anyone with the performance and the result, and am happy to heap praise on Mowbray just as I was criticising him after the last 2 games.

We set our stall out in the first 10 minutes with some superb pressing, which is always when we look at our best, hunting in packs.

After the very much deserved goal, the quality of the game in general dipped until half time really and become very scrappy.

One of the most pleasing things for me was that the goals were from open play, Dack and Graham are two incredibly intelligent footballers and were right back on it today. the 2nd and 4th goals in particular were superb team goals, showing that our players are technically capable if we dont resort to aimless hoofing.

Downing was absolutely excellent, he is a very average player but hes an actual centre back and it really showed, bar one suicidal pass. The run and pass for the second  goal was absolutely brilliant and he was a colossus in the air. Mulgrew was good but I felt he was a bit weak for their second.

At full back, Williams was much, much better, Nyambe I thought was our weakest player but improved after a poor first half.

I hope Conway wasnt the man doing the doping test, felt like he must have taken something to play like he was 5 years younger, a terrific performance by him and I was willing him to get a deserved goal at the end. Mowbray has mentioned putting him central as he gets older but again whilst there is a twinge of logic I dont think he is the type of player best suited as a central midfielder.

The middle 2 were pretty solid and efficient with the odd forward pass, helping with the pressing game too, albeit they are chief perpetratetors in the aimless kick over the shoulder stakes. Overall though, much better in there. Reed was as good as ever, should have scored but his energy levels and his quality are obvious.

Dack was back to his best, absolutely superb, goals, assists, technique, and gave his all. Him and Graham are so key to us.

A very good day.

He has a wand on the edge of his boot Conway worked OK with old Tugay in midfield..... Food for thought perhaps

Neither of them had a game that good. He was quality from the first minute. Winning frees, good deliveries, tidy with the ball. With Armstrong you just don't know what he will do when facing a defender and neither does he I think. Its usually kick chase. Reminds me of Shane long. Players like that get found out. Or if they are playing against a quick full back, their threat is nullified. Conway is just tricky, draws fouls and if he gets space he doesn't faff about, he puts it in

Great performance. I thought Conway and Dack linked well. Dack likes having someone else with a brain beside him

Sheffield Wednesday are awful, but we played very well.

I thought that too...you could see that Dack really enjoyed playing with Conway and appreciated his footballing brain. That is the difference between Conway and Armstrong and perhaps it comes with age and experience but some older players have to learn to adapt and be smarter when their bodies are not as capable as they once were.

If we substituted "genuine winger" for "Conway" there's the lesson for TM to pick up on. No way Armstrong can supply that.

Conway ran the show I thought, plus gave much better support to the dodgy Williams than any of the pretenders yo the LM spot. For all the “wingers on the wing, whodathunkit!” comments, I don’t recall many, if any, demands for Conway to be picked in past weeks...

That's a cop out.

The facts are Mowbray has never signed a proper winger on a permanent. He signed Chapman on loan but then never played him. Mowbray has had a policy of signing strikers, No.10's, and CM's and then playing them out wide. That policy has failed miserably this season. I can't think of another manager that does it with such poor returns.

It is not up to the brilliant minds of BRFCS to pick Mogga's team for him, as you would be quick to point out. But if Conway plays so well that Mogga says straight after the match that Conway will play again at Boro next week then it makes you wonder why he hasn't played before. Afterall, he sees him in training every day. What Mogga has really done is put his hand up and admitted his experiment, which worked to a degree in L1, is not going to work against better teams in the Champ.

I hope Mowbray now makes it his number 1 priority in the transfer window to buy a left footed winger to play on the left wing. Reach, who played on the right yesterday, would be the perfect choice. Conway, as good as he was, still got the ball taken off him nearly every time he tried to check back on his right foot because the full back knew what was coming. When Conway carried on down the outside of the full back he always got his cross in or won a corner. That was definitely something he did differently than in his earlier appearances this season. His intelligent use of the ball stood out against the performances of AA, Palmer and every one else Mogga has tried out there. As you point out, he was also able to offer support and cover far better than the non-specialised, ad-hoc collection of central strikers and central midfielders that have played there this season. Probably because he knows how to be a winger.

Trying to be clever and re-invent the wheel with his inverted 'wide-forwards' has to stop. Imagine how much better we'd be with a proper threat out wide rather than AA losing the ball or Bell turning back all the time. Mowbray can now save face (he doesn't like admitting he's wrong) by keeping Conway there and pulling out all the stops to find a left footed left winger. His experiment has failed.

Indeed. You would have to wonder what the Wednesday manager was at. It's like they had never seen us play before

I was very surprised by his tactics but Holloway on the EFL show on Quest was very damning of their manager and his negative football/tactics. He said with their attacking players they should be playing attacking football. Mention about players injured and frozen out. I look at their team thinking were is Hooper and Westwood. I also didn't undertstand why Reach played in the 10 role with Mathis and Joao wide first half and even when Forresterri came on he played wide left instead of his best position the 10 role.
