Rovers v Birmingham-Saturday ,December 15th

Recommended Posts

Monk has done a decent job with Brum but, like ourselves, they do blow hot and cold.

Same number of points as Rovers though with a better GD.

Think home advantage will be key.  Rovers win at 16/11 offers fair value - also, gone for correct score of 3-1 to Rovers at 21/1.

Come on Mowbray, be brave.  Get at 'em from the start and let Rothwell and Brereton off the leash.

Yeah but they have Villa, West Brom, Wolves, Coventry and a couple of smaller clubs knocking about....not like Leeds with the area to themselves

Still vast areas to draw from in that region, The city of Birmingham is a milllon people with just two clubs within the boundary, the West Midlands ‘county’ has 3 million people, plus those clubs draw support in Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire too.

Brings home that if we can get our home support up to 13/14k that’s a good effort for us at this level with our demographics and hemmed in catchment area.

First team we ever played after I was born. 6th December 1986. Bought the program as a keepsake. Finished 1 all.

For that reason alone it will be a score draw.

I've always wondered for such a big city why their support is very poor.

December 86... I was still making Diego Maradona dart board covers.

Don't underestimate Mowbray playing mind games with his comments. He has asked for patience then sent a team out on the front foot from the kick off.

Perversely looking forward to this one.

Both managers amongst the best at assessing the opposition. Both clubs arguably in higher positions than their first XIs merit. Could be a classic for football technicians if not for the up and at them punter.

Here's an amazing statistic----we have beaten Brum exactly the same number of times as they've beaten us!!

The record is 46 wins each with 31 drawn.

Wouldn't go so far as to say amazing tbh. This one however could well be the most boring of the lot. 0-0, and an absmyl weather forecast to compound the misery for those who bother.

Not sure if stats will back this up, but on a Championship goals show Birmingham were described as a  'big team' that are 'good at set pieces'.

If that's the case then we should be afraid, very afraid. They'll score at least 2.

If our forward line are on form. 2-2 Perhaps?

Earth to Tony

Our second striker has 9 goals in 17 games. Safe to say that moving him isnt the solution.

As pointed out today, outside of Dack, Graham and Mulgrews set pieces, we have managed only 6 league goals. Mowbray tried to downplay it but its a massive concern.

What's the odds of two clubs playing each other over more than a century and winning exactly the same number of games?

Doubt we are the only fixture. If it was same games won and same goals scored - now that would be amazing lol
