Bbrovers2288 Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I reckon it would be an idea for two new defence centre back leaders and shift Mulgrew to left back, he won’t be able to get up and down but he would be solid enough there with some new legs on left wing to carry the attacking threat Quote

Given how Travis was banished from the team after his stupid sending off last season, I’d hope the same is applied to Smallwood. Something’s not been right since Preston, and it’s Mowbrays job to sort it out. Watched it two or three times - some matches it wouldn't even be a yellow (especially when you consider earlier Sheff Utd challenges). However Smallwood is stupid to give the referee the opportunity - which you could tell he had been waiting for by the speed he got his card out (good referees give themselves time to process what they have seen). In some ways you can't blame TM too much - his initial team selection worked (even though criticised by many on here). His substitutions cant be blamed as Smallwood and the referee changed the context of the match. Three very poor pieces of defending for their goals. Management is part luck - TM could be lucky that Smallwood will be out three matches - which will hopefully give somebody like Travis the opportunity to replace him. With so many other options - never understood why he stood by him for so long. 2 Quote

He is possibly the best set-piece taker in the division, and we all know how poor we are at scoring from open-play. By the same measure, he's not playing in his natural position; he's a midfielder, isn't he? Technically, but he's played a significant portion of his career at CB so I don't think we can really say he's out of position. He just needs a certain type of defender beside him - Lenihan is not that defender. Quote

We are the only team with manager and fans who will defend an embarrassing defeat and slag off fellow fans who simply want better. After the next game we could be getting sucked into a real fight. With some very angry fans too. Just to make the regression more stark. At the beginning of this month, Hull were in the bottom three (22nd - 17 points - 19 games) and Rovers were 11th (26 points - 18 games). Hull had played a game more. Hull are now in 14th on 33 points, taking 16 from a possible 18, while Rovers are 15th on 31, having taken 5 from a possible 21. Grim. 1 Quote

He must get frustrated next to Williams and Lenihan.....talk about a rose between two thorns Quote
Fraserkirky Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) Need to see the three goals again, couldn’t quite see from all the salty tear water, but Mulgrew defiantly didn’t cover himself in glory for the 1st or 3rd. Edited December 29, 2018 by Fraserkirky Quote

It was something different and it was refreshing. That said though to say the managers subs weren't an issue isn't really truthful. Why not bring Danny Graham on for Brereton or even leave both on and go for the win? Instead he brought an advanced midfielder on and a player in Armstrong who no one knows where to play him? It doesn't make sense. An experienced target man to play into once 10 vs 11 was exactly what was needed. 1 Quote

Not all his fault but he is the captain and at the middle of a defense that is capitulating. Your talking about a knighthood? Edited December 29, 2018 by Fraserkirky Quote

davefarnworth Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Need a defence and a manager. Then we can build next season. But it's too obvious for the Lunes Quote
Butty Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Massive rebuild needed in the summer. Other than Raya,Mulgrew, Nyambe, Reed Dack Graham and Bennett I wouldn’t be upset to see any of the rest leave. That’s the reality of it unfortunately. We haven’t got the quality to expect anything more than a 15th or 16th place finish this season. If the chicken farmers are serious about righting the wrongs they need to back the manager next summer. 1 Quote

Certainly don’t drop the pace and play in front of them. That’s the worst thing you can do and makes it as easy as it can for them. 7 Quote

They gave him around £10 million this summer and what did he come up with, Armstrong and Big Ben. As for it being a massive rebuild in the summer let's just hope that the rebuild is for the Championship. Quote
Rogerb Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Despite the poor run over the last nine games. Ipswich Reading Rotherham and Notlob are no closer than they were nine games ago. When those four are closing the gap then the alarm bells will be reaching a crescendo. 1 Quote
