Predictable if they bring in the young City kid who can cover two positions and will probably have heavily subsidised wages.  A good keeper even more important now, as if it wasn't before !

Anyone think TM wants footballing defenders rather than specialists ?

At this rate we will be a good bet to be highest conceders again but maybe one of the highest scorerers which to be fair should still see us in top half.  Then again he could start a team of midfielders every week.

I get where you're coming from but we have limited resources. Starting partnership of Travis and Johnson, with Evans, Davenport and Buckley backing up is good for me. Rather spend the money we have on sorting defence and keeper.

other clubs take loans from the premier league aswell.Derby and Villa made the play offs last season with quite a few loans between them.

No problem with loaning players if they are of a decent pedigree which this City player looks to have.

He played 36 times for a play off team last season if City are heavily subsidising his wages then good move on our part.

Downing and Johnson wouldn't have signed for peanuts either, not disputing venkys are crap owners but we spent money last season and are spending money this summer aswell

This is the problem. Those with pedigree cost big cash. Nowt wrong with a lot of those players loaned if you're paying the money for them. Those Villa got like Abraham and Mings, without doubt fantastic loans. We aren't shopping down that aisle so we get the cheaper unproven ones whose parent clubs are happy to send out to develop and get game time. 

None of the loans we've had have worked out, apart from Cairney but he was a proven Championship player on his way back from injury, not a kid looking for games.

A lot of truth to this. We have spent 5m and 7m on strikers in the last year. I don't think we can argue a lack of investment as one of our owners foibles. Most other clubs in Championship would love to be in our financial position.

Obviously this does not eradicate their awful mismanagement and continued lack of engagement. But equally it could be a lot worse if they turn the cash off.

It's a really terrible position to be. To hate someone, yet be entirely dependent on them. If they walked away we would be the next Bolton.

Played as many games as Charlie Mulgrew in the league, and its pretty obvious that he isnt up to it anymore sadly, so that means nothing.

Common consensus from the forums/posts Ive read are that hes no right back, West Brom were really short there, signed Tyrone Mears as a cheap, short term option and ultimately it was the signing of Holgate on loan, himself naturally a centre back but much more comfortable at right back that saw Adaraiyobo drop out the team and at times the squad due to loan limitations.

My opinion on him would be that id like to think that his underwhelming spell at WBA was down to being played out of position but will have done him good in terms of knowing what to expect. I watched West Brom a few times on TV, plus twice v us live and he looked a little awkward and cumbersome and very much the weak link of an otherwise very solid Championship defence. If hes the sole addition to a really poor defence, id be unhappy. If he was one of two or three including some experience, and if he has been signed solely as a centre back, he may be a shrewd addition.

Ive seen no one suggest that they wouldnt give him a chance so theres no need for people to take the moral high ground.

Im fed up of people constantly trying to be a better fan and put down anyone who offers any sort of doubt or criticism.

This particular player played 36 games in the championship last season and City did give him a 25k a week contract so he is bound to have something about him.

Looks a good loan signing to me.

There's a photo on twitter of Arma Downing and Gallagher. Gallagher looks like he has beefed up a lot and looks like an absolute unit. Can't wait to see him in action now.

Not really interested in how much City are paying him. Kasey Palmer will have been on good money and that one was a waste of everyone's time. Yes the fact he played regularly in a half decent side last season is a positive and leads to hope he'll be up to more than the Byrne's, Harper's and Hendrie's we've ended up with.

Still expect him or whoever comes in to  be 3rd choice filling in when injuries arise rather than a new CB who will be built around.

The marquee signings are in - Gallagher, Johnson, Downing - quite impressive even if not first choices to a lot of fans.

Now it's the usual one or two big club loanees to bluff the squad and cover other areas so it's chuck and chance, nowt new either remember the Utd lad that ended up down the road ?  A gangly centre half kid playing here as a RB but looking far more suited to his proper position ?

There's definitely some policies set in stone at Rovers under this lot that get passed down the managerial line and i've touched on what i think it is before so no point the inviting the anti conspiracy mob on again but there's a pattern. 

At least this kid if he comes has a good set of games under his belt and you feel one day law of averages one will just click as it did with the manager himself.  Wouldn't be at all surprised to see a young keeper of similar vein come in on loan for a straight shoot out with the Canadian for the jersey with what's left in the kitty.
