Buckley going

a year to a club like Sunderland or Portsmouth next season playing regularly and we could have a gem next year and for years to come.

Probably the best thing for him.

As it stands, Mowbray has Evans, Johnson, Travis, Smallwood, Downing, Davenport and probably Bennett ahead of giving him a start at CM.

After the season has finished I can bet you Charlie Adam will have more assists then anyone at this club probably even as many goals as our mids

like he did last season

Rankin Costello at fullback is very exciting, had all the right attributes  to go long as Travis. Butterworth is also a pacy winger in Armstrong /Chapman mould. Think Magloire should go out on loan along with Buckley, Platt and Grayson to get more experience.

As it stands we only have two fit centre backs if you exclude the three above. Williams is injured and hasn't hardly had any pre season and the young lad from City hasn't signed yet. If Williams doesn't get back soon (I don't know the severity of his injury) it could be that two of Magloire, Platt and Grayson will miss the loan deadline as they could be required here. That's also assuming we don't bring another centre back in too.

Think Leutwiler has been good since he got hos chance end of season. As an backup in Champ I think hes good enough. He is an canadian international keeper so has experience but need games. Think Walton is a good signing if we could finalise it.

Well,if I'm guilty of it point it out. You've been very patronising towards me 2 posts in a row so, let's both agree its unnecessary and not do it.

It doesn't offend me in the slightest, so I wouldn't feel the need to question your character. If you read back your initial response to me though, I hope you can see my point re the accusation of  hypocrisy.  Thanks for the sensible reply though - you are a gentleman.

Williams injured again, eugh. Heaven forbid Lenihan gets injured now too. Our 3 centre halves are all so injury prone.

Could be the young lad from city and Magloire come the end of August.....

Thought he was absent because his wife was about to give birth? I believe she had the baby yesterday

Whats happened to Scott Wharton, he's wasn't with the 1st team Saturday either?

Hopefully that spurs us into life and we sign an experienced CB. It would make a real difference.

She did, but he has a calf injury too. Out for 6 weeks....

I wonder is Wharton out the door permanently. Doesn't seem to be in Mowbrays thoughts.

If it has that effect, I would take it.

Surely we have to sign at least one now?

I think it's safe to predict it will be Lenihan and Mulgrew v Charlton. 100%

Yep, no pi**ing about now, it's time to spend whatever budget we've got left on a decent CB. We're one injury to Lenihan away from being screwed and a ball hasn't even been kicked.

Perfect timing then. We all know how short we are in defence and those we have are prone to injury. Glad it happened now and not day after transfer window closes. Time to act TM

So, that's Williams and Davenport crocked whilst according to the LT, Chapman's 'fitness is being monitored having featured in just one behind closed doors game so far'.

Davenport and Chapman all reminiscent of Vince Grella whilst when did Gladwin last kick a ball for us?

We need robust individuals who we can rely upon being fit for 90% of games.

We should not be signing accidents waiting to happen!

Is it now that Charlie Adam is great seeing as he's gone elsewhere whereas he was a sponger taking advantage of our facilities a few weeks ago ....?

Better player than Johnson but no legs or fitness so we move on we didn't need both.

The area of concern is still defence and you can see similar unfolding as to Jan where a few weeks after not strengthening then letting Downing go we were struggling. No idea why this is Mowbrays blind spot other than the reasons discussed in regards to growing to sell in that area and being terrified of Mulgrew.

Just get one in even if it costs a bit or it's a 6 month loan, the worry about selections often gets taken out of the hands anyway when numbers get low.

Please god don't be waiting for Rodwell still.

I don't believe Mowbray, is 'scared' of Mulgrew, not for a second. Mulgrew had an extended stint on the bench towards the end of last season..

Anyway, I don't think Mulgrew is a bad player. But he does need a proper defender next to him- same with Lenihan, it's arguable that neither of them are what you'd consider a specialist centre half, which is why when they play together they can look a bit shaky.

Bring in a big lump- Samba would do the trick and I'm sure he'd be well recieved by the fans. I know he's getting on but I'm sure he could still organise a defence and impose himself.

Sounds that way, but where was he on Sunday?

Probably not close enough to make the match day squad. Bennett and Nyambe in front of him as right back. Attacking midfielder by trade, but very football intelligent and can play a number of positions. Filled in as wing back for U23 last season and did very well.
