Tbf he was playing at left back. If we put Lenihan at left back I wouldn't expect him to do well.

It's surprising what gets passed off as "journalism" these days. I learnt nothing from reading that. God almighty, if you went through twitter after a Barcelona game you would find enough vague criticisms of Messi to make a similar "article"

Ya, a good solid pro like Moran would be ideal. Wasn't he like 33/34 when we signed him though? I can well imagine what the reaction would be to his signing if similar happened now-old, pensioner and injury prone would definitely be thrown out there! 

It would depend on quality! Anyone remotely as good as Moran the MB would be overflowing with joy.

We always seem to do this.  We have all summer to sign a goalie and a centre back and now 10 days before the start we are still waiting.  Surely it’s better to get them in early and allow some time to bed in.  Without strengthening these areas with quality a repeat of last year is the best we can hope for this year.

For me he is an upgrade on Raya so that good, but Im disappointed it makes no mention of a loan to buy. Seems like he is a stop gap until we maybe find a keeper again next season

Not having that.  For numerous reasons. 

At the time it was the biggest budget and wage bill that league had ever seen. Losses of almost £20 million unprecedented for a 3rd tier club. 

Potentially Sunderland have since 'beat' us but they were in the Premier League 2 years ago and have parachute income. 

Not trying to diminish the achievement but no other club has had that level of wages and losses.

I don't consider Walton an upgrade to Raya, but he isn't a downgrade either. Roughly the same, except he isn't ours, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Assume Tosin will be announced as well shortly. Hopefully there's at least one other CB to come in before the season starts.

Good GK, pleased to have him here. Not sure if he’s an upgrade on Raya though, probably about the same. 

Hopefully the Raya cash will be spent on a CB, as TM has said recently.

I find it bizarre that anyone is happy at replacing an up and coming young keeper with someone who isn't an obvious upgrade and who isn't even our player.

As for the City lad, not what we need at all imo. We need an experienced specialist CB to replace Mulgrew and bring Lenihan through. I bet he hardly starts and ends up padding out the squad.

Absolute shambles of a transfer window for me. Very similar to last summer. We seem to put offers in for our main targets which are laughed out of court and then end up scratching around at the last minute for anyone still available, regardless of whether they're what we actually need or not.

Don't know if it's anything to do with Waggott or not but since he arrived we seem to find it virtually impossible to get any deals over the line. Certainly not for the type of players we really need.

Fully agree but some people seem to be happy with two freebie past-it players, a couple of loans of premiership squad players who will never see any action for their parent club and 5 million spunked on a player who has never hit double figures in his life. Going to be a long hard season I tell ya
