Is it dead now?

Yes, loads have came and gone , one of the few that came to light. Scott Sinclair, fraser foster, Martin skrtel are the others I know were looked at. Wages being the biggest hurdle not surprisingly , all dead I believe

Mowbray is probably still waiting for Rodwell then box that off as a CB signing ? does seem to be a tough window for the vast majority of the championship. Lescott as in Joleon ??? crikey

Yes; he's Man. City's "loanee player liaison agent" these days.

Shock horror. Rovers can't sign decent players

I really hope this isn't true!

We just need to do the unthinkable and sign specialists for their actual positions.

He wouldn't be anywhere near the club if he'd played for Leeds or Hull it just typical of this gaffers old boys network. Player he knows and likes becomes available, it's doable so he does it then tries to think of a spot for them.

I had the remote hope that if he's anything left in tank we might have someone who occasionally can put his foot on the ball and send it forwards with some quality instead of sideways or backwards 3 yards.

Deploying him at LB/Wing back is the kind of thing a pub team manager would do with one of his mates who's turned 50 but can still play a bit but can't run !

I guessed it was Scoty Sinclair. Was that as a winger or a wing back conversion?

Jedinak is another CM? Rarely plays at the back. Hasn’t Richards retired now too.

He’s been playing at the back for a couple of years when he played.

Granted, at Palace, he was in CM.

All speculation so far. We do have the youngest squad in the league to be fair. So I think that ties in with Johnsons strengths.

Of those only Buckley and Butterworth could realistically breakthrough this year. I suppose the weigh up is keep them around and give them cameos or send them to league 1 to play 30 games plus. Need to make sure the loan move is the right one though.

Hart and JRC should be our first choice fullbacks imo.

Hopefully Tony will be a bit braver this year.

Nyambe at RB. He’ll come good soon enough. I saw a poster on here slagging Hart off which I didn’t get, lad went out on loan too Southend and was a fans favourite there in league one, a league Bell didn’t look up too much in. He also came on against Rangers and impressed, surely he’s better than Bell? Bell is horrendous defensively but okay going forward.

Bell was in the League 1 team of the season the year we signed him. Obviously you are not a Bell fan but don’t blindly claim he was poor when he obviously wasn’t

He was poor, I have no idea how he ended up in the team of the year, probably from his Fleetwood appearances.  Even if he was good in League 1 he is nothing short of shite in this division which is what matters now.

One of the reason the U23 finish high is that The top PL clubs are loaning their best players, so their U23 is watered Out a bit. Players like Mason Mount, Harry Wilson etc.

However shouldn't takeaway that we have a great U23 with Just as good talent as the PL

I completely agree but they are clubs making money from the loan system while buying the finished article for their first team. We on the other hand invest in the academy to produce players for our team.

I feel we are not in a position to see players like Buckley, butterworth and Costello trundle around league one to satisfy a development formula.

In the end posters on here have suggested they have the apptitude to be championship players. Only exposure to championship football will show if they have the attitude ( Travis as an example). Some will pass the test and some will fail but for me this is about Blackburn rovers football club not about nurturing.

These are young men and football is there chosen profession. They need to be on the pitch for us and I can bet you that if they where asked they would agree.

To succeed in any field requires risk. Wolves money, sheff Utd style of play. We have neither of them but we have youth and that is our risk.

I feel this season we are at a crossroads. We can purse a policy of safety first or we can give youth a chance. I’m not sure which way we will go. One certainly condemns is to mid table mediocrity the other gives us a chance of greater things

Over to you Tony

This Adarabioyo deal seems to be dragging ridiculously now. Wasn’t it last Thursday him and Lescott were at Brockhall?

My big hope is that we are dragging our heels because we are near to finalising a deal for someone better, but I think I’m clutching at straws there.

Think you're spot on.

Tosin seems more as an backup plan if Rovers fails to find a cb.

it should be tosin and another cb not a bloody back up plan,  we need a minimum of two CBs

perfect end to window would be to get rid of smallwood, loan out some youngsters on the fringes, and bring in  experienced GK, 2 CBs, and winger (proper winger none of this was a striker then defender now plays on the wing but wants to play GK shite)

"#Rovers players have just arrived and taking a look at the pitch. Sam Gallagher has travelled, no Christian Walton though. No sign of the three players who played 90 on Sunday, or Corry Evans."

Evans on the move??

No Walton? What is it with our bedding in periods? I get the odd exception like Downing moving his family or someone being grossly unfit, but in the last few years I can't remember us ever playing someone within a couple of days of them signing. Never used to be the case. He is a goalie, just put him in so he can start learning how our awful defence play.
