West Yorks Rover Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 TM will know all about our illustrious history and he will not want to be the first manager to take us to the 4th division, that's why he'll resign if he doesn't get the backing he needs. Will he be given it ? Not a chance IMO. Quote
Stuart Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Just now, Batman. said: I think he'd be daft not to. He's performed very well and without assurances that he'll be backed financially, he'll fancy his chances of getting a better job. Lambert was vilified for doing similar. Although I suspect you are right. Quote

Was he not just alluding to the possibility of him being fired as a result of failing to keep us up as opposed to walking out? Didn't sound like that. He also said on Sky he expects backing. Quote

We drew too many unfortunately. I don't think Mowbray's a wonderful manager but he seems a solid, likeable type with integrity and I hope he stays 3 Quote
JonnyP Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Yeah the big problem I see is that there is arguably 11 players out the door (5 loanees and 6 contracts up) and if we want to do anything next season we need to start recruiting straight away. But with what we will probably offer players they will wait for a better opportunity and we will be stuck trying to sign players late into August which makes a balls of preseason and we'll be forced to start the season with youth in the side which I don't think is a great option in L1. I think TM will have a hard time getting anything out of the board and his ability to recruit and prepare for next season will be a sham. I can see anyone worth anything will be sold to try pay wages and anything brought in will be a loanee or someone willing to come on a low wage. It's going to be very difficult for any manager. i want TM to stay but can't see him getting the backing. I think he will do a good job with the @#/? hand he is presented with again but I don't think we will have the players to get back up again. I think we will have a very thin squad and at best we will manage a playoff place Quote
MikeRovers Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 TM gave us a prayer at least. Hope he stays next season. Appointing Coyle killed us completely 1 Quote
tomphil Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 He's going to get freebie 2k per week players foisted upon him and loans of players whose parent club sends them for nowt and who don't really want to be here. Probably had that before at Coventry and he'll know exactly where it leads so I wouldn't be surprised to see a Lambert style 6 month clause suddenly pop up. Dunn will be in charge by August I'd almost stick money on it, TM will get shafted one way or another. Quote

I trust TM. Sounds daft when my heads still spinning after being relegated but even his presence at pitch side today made me aware of what we've missed. 1 Quote
Stuart Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Dreading this month from a football perspective. If Mowbray walks then we will be almost certainly led by Dunn next season as cost cutting will dictate. Might be worth a few quid on Huddersfield, Fleetwood and Blackpool to win their respective play-offs just to take the @#/? even more after this @#/? season. Quote
Batman. Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 You couldn't begrudge Bowyer a promotion Stu!! Could be out next gaffer if Mowbray walks... Quote
OJRovers Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Daft as it sounds, I think they might sack Mowbray. They know nothing about football and will probably blame him in some way for not keeping us up depsite their 'backing' in January (loans). They will be quite happy with Dunn as manager - fans' favourite and cheap. Quote

Batman. Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Is Dunn a fan's favourite? I think the bloke is a waster. 1 Quote
gumboots Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 I don't think Dunn is a fans favourite, certainly not as a managerial prospect but he is a local lad and former player and therefore quite easy to sell to Venkys as being a good appointment 1 Quote
Roverall Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Dunn is a greedy @#/? who was happy to back Steve Kean and Venkys provided he got his new contracts. Can't stand the guy. 2 Quote

G Somerset Rover Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 According to Rich Sharpe, TM will be flying to India to meet with the owners. You can imagine how it'll go now, 'Tony who'? Quote
