Backroom Tom Posted April 27, 2019 Backroom Posted April 27, 2019 Got to give their due this co commentator is brilliant, not sure who it is but clearly done his research into both teams, no useless platitudes like the useless Carragher and co just good info that you may not know 2 Quote

He does well at times chucking his body in front of shots and getting the odd tackle in but when he’s isolated one on one it’s always painful too watch. Good example of that a moment ago, excellent crucial interception. Think that's his second key one today? But as you say, at other times he just gets massacred. On the whole, shouldn't be there. But the main guy hasn't mentioned rovers at all. Like listening to Radio Norfolk. 2 Quote

Bennett is a million miles off what’s required here. I actually think that is the game plan. Look how were inviting them to press us, short balls out from the keeper, passing backwards in our own half, playing it around the back. Norwich are known for their high press as a team, we are trying to bring them onto us then release Rothwell and Arma. Quote
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 (edited) We're soft in midfield,no creativity. That said I don't think Norwich are that good at the back..still goals here if we come out with the right attitude second half. Edited April 27, 2019 by SIMON GARNERS 194 Quote

Finding himself unable to roast the fullback like he usually does, and seems frustrated to the point of lashing out a bit. Del did a godly tackle earlier, can't lie. Seems so much better suited to the centre. He was just an impersonator at left back this season and much of last. Quote
USABlue Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Fortunate to be only one down, will need more about us 2nd half. Quote

It would be a good plan if we could defend. Unfortunately we can't, so, instead it just led to Norwich scoring twice as we backed off until they decided to shoot. The second goal in particular was ridiculous. You'd think the ball was on fire the way our players were running away from it. 1 Quote

All part of the tv promotion watch. We don't matter and as the game goes on we will completely disappear. Is TM there?? Quote

All but confirmed with the Bennett close up, who told Williams "sideways, then long" after he made a forward pass. A decent tactic really, knowing Norwich are going to go for it. Quote
1864roverite Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Rodwell needs replacing ASAP, we need to shore up the midfield he is causing us our own problems Quote

The long shots are collateral damage, the tactic says let them shoot from distance, although it relies on the keeper saving and going long very quickly. Quote
des Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Playing like this how have we won our last four games. They seem faster, and more skillful. Next season we need s new goalkeeper full backs and more bite in midfield, while our manager as done ok today's,can hear take us to the next level Quote
SBlue Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Raya would have thrown his cap on that first one. 1 Quote

Which is fine when you're organised and can defend. Quote
Butty Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 We were awful for the first 25 minutes till we pulled one back and got into the game a bit more, let’s face it though it’s clear too see how good of a side they are. Williams has probably been our best player on the pitch, Leutweiler potentially should have saved the first one but he’s made a couple of decent saves so I wouldn’t be too harsh on him, let’s hope Mowbray is true too his word and brings a keeper in this summer. 1 Quote
philipl Posted April 27, 2019 Author Posted April 27, 2019 Norwich made the most of the adrenalin rush of the promotion party at home but Rovers have hung in there. Want to see us more competitive in the second half with more midfield bite than we have managed first half. More goals in this if we can get Rothwell, Dack and Graham in the game and Arma more ballsy they won't all go into our net. Leutweiler coming good as the half went on and some awesome defending from Lenihan and Williams. Quote

They had a fair few shots from close range in the first 25 too, so whatever we were attempting it wasn't working. After Travis scored we finally seemed to get a slight foothold in the game but that was purely because we actually started closing down and giving them less time on the ball. The difference between the two teams in possession was really obvious. We were also at various points leaving huge gaps in sections of the pitch which I can't get my head around. Hopefully Norwich will come out a little less pumped up and we can sneak an equaliser. They concede easily so it is possible. Even with that first half performance we could and possibly should have scored twice. Quote

It's a big, big change, it's essentially what Mowbray has said he wants to be doing next season. Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 27, 2019 Moderation Lead Posted April 27, 2019 They had 13 shots to our 1 earlier on ?. For real though, we’ve not been great and we’re lucky it’s only 2-1. We’ve not been able to get Dack or Graham into the game at all. We just need to be a lot better second half. To be fair to Norwich, they’ve been absolutely excellent, but they’ve smelt blood and kept their foot on the neck. Big improvement needed, second half. Quote
yellowsubmarine Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Hope TM takes note of how a Championship/promoted team should be playing and fine tune this Rovers squad over the summer with the right players. Norwich are so fast as releasing the ball, getting players into dangerous areas, and looks threatening with every attack. We seems to be slower in every department. 2 Quote
