den Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) I remember Kevin with a lot of fondness. He was rovers version of David Fairclough. Don’t really know what happened to him after leaving Ewood, but he certainly made an impression on me when he was here. RIP Kevin. Loved watching you. Edited July 28, 2019 by den 9 Quote

arbitro Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Very sad news. Kevin was always a committed and honest player. I didn't realise his goalscoring record was one in three which is decent by anybody's standards. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP. 2 Quote
dingles staying down 4ever Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Kevin was the first player I had a photo with when i got my first kit. Thoughts are for his family. RIP Quote

Claytons Left Boot Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Very sad indeed and at only 59, taken far too early. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Kevin and thanks for the memories. 1 Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Ah this is sad news. I was just talking about him the other day to someone. Our version of David Fairclough both in looks and in impact. It’s always sad when we lose a member of the Rovers family, but at such a young age it seems even more of a blow. RIP Kev x 1 Quote
martonrover Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Very sad news. Kevin was in the side when I first started attending regularly in my childhood. RIP Kevin. Quote
Sparks Rover Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Good old kev, a mate of my dads back in the 80s Quote
philipl Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Very sad. Stonehouse was a very honest player who had a knack of scoring important goals. Always contributing in games although not the most physical or gifted, he made the most of what he had. 3 Quote
Colt Seavers Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I was telling my son about Kevin the other night at the Bury game. Chris Taylor was warming up right in front of us and I remarked that I always called him Kevin Stonehouse as I thought they looked alike. I think he scored in the dreaded away game at Bristol Rovers on the day we just missed out on the first division. A penalty I think but not sure. The clip above against Watford brings back very happy memories of my formative years standing up on the wall on the Riverside peering through the red bars. RIP Kevin. 5 Quote
Herbie6590 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 A goal every 3 games playing more often than not as a winger/wide midfielder. Terribly sad. Far too young. 1 Quote
m1st Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 He was always a real tryer; 100% effort. Doesn't it speak volumes about his impact over only 4 seasons - I'd have thought his career with us was longer - that he's being remembered with such affection? RIP, Kevin. 2 Quote
tomphil Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 Remember him from early years starting going on Ewood as a youngster he stood out with his hair and sheer put it about effort when he came on. Always liked him then he just seemed to disappear no idea why but surely he was handy to keep around ? Came across him on twitter a few times he was clearly still taking a big interest in Rovers, lesser grafters than him retire from the game loaded these days they really don't know how lucky they have it. RIP 2 Quote

m1st Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I don't know if some far more computer-literate than me - not difficult! - member can transfer this thread to the "In memoriam" Board? I've just visited that Board and had a wonderful 1/4 hour reading about my heroes from the era beginning with the team that got back to the old Division 1 in 1957. So sad to read how many of those players have died so young. Quote
Popular Post 4,000 Holes Posted August 16, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 16, 2019 (edited) Please note that we have a wonderful four-page 2000-word tribute to Kevin Stonehouse in Issue 97 of the fanzine. This is just the kind of richly deserved write-up that the club sadly fails to provide in enough detail to remember past players. It includes words from Mick Rathbone, Terry Gennoe, Mick Speight and other teammates. Issue 97 is available for just £1.50 on Kidder Street before the Boro match. It can also be purchased online as part of a SEASON SUBSCRIPTION HERE or INDIVIDUALLY HERE. Edited August 16, 2019 by 4,000 Holes 14 Quote
Leonard Venkhater Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 When people take over an historic organisation, they often talk about preserving the golden thread. Well, these owners and their employees certainly didn't do that, did they. Who knows, someone might even get the ridiculous idea of raising matchday prices after midday! Quote
