Don’t do it to yourself lad. Over the last 6 months I’ve convinced myself of various things signalling his end. Ultimately Mowbray is like the terminator. Just when you think he’s gone he comes back stronger than before. He’ll be back soon harping on about his journey, giving a thesis on why it’s not 1995 therefore he’s doing well and how we can’t possibly compete with Peterborough with their momentum from league one. oh and defenders are coming. Can we not do that please? As stated before, the information was posted in good faith, by a number of posters, so, at that time, there may have been something in it. Who knows what may have happened since, but either Venky’s are waiting for something else to happen before they pull the trigger, or they’ve changed their mind. With them, pretty much anything goes, so it’s probably not worth getting worked up about rumour and hearsay until anything actually happens.... I for one like hearing what people think they know from what they believe to be reliable sources. Whether it’s transfer rumours or changes of personnel even if it ultimately doesn’t pan out. I get 99% of my rovers news from this site. Whether that’s the equivalent of these young uns using Facebook/Twitter for their main source of news I don’t know but saves me going on to the club site or the propaganda rag the LET. Hopefully one day rovers will be more of an open book where fans feel part of the club again. One thing I have heard from what I believe to be a reliable source is rovers know what next years seasons ticket details will be price wise but are waiting until the right time. I told this person for what it’s worth unless they make them pretty much free or coincide them with Mowbray’s sacking the take up will be as poor as it’s ever been. 9 Quote

Backroom DE. Posted May 26, 2021 Backroom Posted May 26, 2021 Problem is, when there's no real pressure from the top it usually leads to mediocre performances from all below, unless you have an extremely driven manager and set of players. I think it's obvious we don't. Mowbray and the team being under no pressure, as performances seemingly have no bearing on job security, means mid-table at best and a relegation battle at worst - and let's face it, under this lot it wouldn't be much of a battle. 3 Quote

This has been a massive issue here all along even under previous Venky induced managers. Now we have one whose been here years and knows exactly how they work. That means they just sigh the cheques, say yay or nay to things via their messenger and will only analyze things once per year in mid summer. Otherwise there's nothing to worry about and if they did remove you it would be out of the blue without prior warning. So just shrug your shoulders and carry on basically doing what you want as long as you run it by the messenger. Even more convenient when you have your pal as a cushion as well. Only reason he isn't saying owt is he'll be on a long awaited break like most of them will. He also knows people are sick of hearing his babble so time to kick back for a few weeks and plan next years pitch to the fans. 1 Quote

There is always a post season lull and wall of silence, everyone on holiday and every single aspect of the club (season tickets, kits, signings, budgets) all left until the last possible moment. Dont torture yourself would be my advice. Quote

Its a good point you have made here, Only contracts thats have done 1st team wise are the extensions to 4 players to JRC, Nyambe, Rothwell and Johnson for a year plus Scott new contract to 2024. We have seen plenty of new contracts for our 23's and 18's players 1 Quote

Popular Post JHRover Posted May 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 26, 2021 (edited) As predicted we are now in the 'dust settling' phase. Go off on holiday, keep quiet, let the catastrophic run and performances of January to April drift into the distant past. The local media are busy away doing their bidding by regurgitating interviews about which players and positions we need to address, how the summer provides an opportunity. All this does is implant things in people's minds - makes them think it is business as usual, that there's no decision to be made, that anyone entertaining ideas of him going are barking up the wrong tree, that the only issues for discussion here are which players we let go and which we bring in, and subconsciously prepare them for full steam ahead with Mowbray come July. Him and Waggott aren't daft. Keep quiet, say nothing, let the dust settle and then by July most people will have forgotten about last season and those who haven't will be shot down with the usual 'its in the past' 'whats done is done' 'we need to look forward, not backward' stuff. Eventually desperation to get back to watching live football for many will trump any particular interest in who is running the show or how bad they are at it. Not all mind, I'm sure season ticket sales will be evidence of what people really think of the shambles. Edited May 26, 2021 by JHRover 11 Quote

And that's before considering whether or not Waggott will introduce another huge price hike. Just imagine the difference in outlook and new found feeling of optimism were the Coventrio potted, for the sake of argument Hughes or Ainsworth were appointed, and season tickets went on sale a couple of days after that! 15 Quote

tomphil Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Again a lot of it plays right into their hands now. I'm not saying they don't want to win games or get as many people in a possible but to me they've waved a white flag now. They've sussed it out and know they aren't capable or driven enough to get a team in the upper end on their budget. They know that only that and low prices will get gates at Ewood up again. So we are firmly in option B where they know the team might struggle and crowds will be low. So make the best of that situation it's far less hassle without expectation and they all still get paid the same. I expect some price rises, tiny crowds and possibly more of the ground roped off. More staff laid off and more cost cutting with ready made excuse after excuse again. Emphasis on reduced income, reduced budget and press trotting out '150 million debt' line time after time. The debt that is only a debt when people seem to want it to be, otherwise it's 'investment' !!! We really might as well have Bob Saxton in charge - i'm sure these lot would have them training down Pleasy again if they could hide behind it. Quote
Mattyblue Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 (edited) And the majority of the remaining engaged support will lap up the dumbed down expectations. If TM states mere ‘survival is the aim’, ‘we can’t compete’, ‘parachutes’ etc etc, then that will also become gospel with the fans and a 20th placed finish and a new contract for 2022 onwards will be just nodded through and the recalibration of the image of Blackburn Rovers as a club lucky to just be in the second division is complete.
