Out of all the managers that have paraded through during this nightmare reign, the one I wish (in hindsight) had been given the time is Appleton, we might have hot somewhere under him.

The story goes that after losing 7-1 to Man Utd Venkys were that embarrassed in front of their Indian guests they sacked Allardyce. I don't know if that's true but tonight was far more embarrassing although I doubt they even knew we were playing let alone getting humiliated on Sky. 

The whole club needs an exorcism to rid us of the people who have ruined a fantastically run club, a proud club who could mix it with the big boys.

I watched him tonight, he doesn't give a toss his position here built on a raft of excuses is so comfortable.

Only thing that gave me a bit of hope was Venus making a beeline to shake his hand the min the whistle went. Feint hope it was a 'the games up for us' type of handshake but nah, hearing what he's said afterwards.... he still doesn't give a toss.

Mad to think I started this thread years ago and this first post still applies. 

 

Feel sorry for my Dad tonight, come off almost fighting with Rovers fans for calling for the man to go after a defeat like that. Doesn't sound like he's going to go back either. He's had conversations with folk who were saying "well, we were gunna lose anyway"... This stupid, youth team football lack of ambition mindset I could not tolerate any longer and by sound of it, it's still present. The result aside, it's not just based on this one result, he's been long past his sell by date with us and should have gone long ago. These fans are the reason I can no longer go either, the amount of arguments from brain dead folk saying "who we gunna get?" whenever you question any of our managers over the years boils my blood. 

 

On the manager, just walk, have some self respect. Alex Neil, did better at Preston with a lesser budget, was probably on less money and has a better track record of promotion than our current manager. It's not hard and anyone with any business sense would see it's an upgrade to what we already have. For me, there's no other right candidate than him.

Is there another club as dysfunctional as this where the manager can do whatever he wants without reprisal?

Only one other bloke seemed to enjoy managing the club with complete freedom to do what he wanted, I won't mention his name.

The first relegation, being beat at home to Wigan was a pretty big low and it feels like it never stopped getting lower. The Rat and Del Boy having Sky Sports in their pocket, Defeat to Burnley, Shelfy and co, Owen Coyle...

Anything else has been a momentary distraction.

He's got his initial excuses in hand - the red card, playing mighty Fulham, parachute money, PL last year. Radio Lancs and Kevin Gallacher have been helping with that tonight.

Luckily for Mowbray he's only got 2 days until the Sheff Utd fixture. Club twitter account has been trying to placate the twitter mob by promising to 'put it right' on Saturday.

He only needs to batten down the hatches until Friday. Then it will be pre-match presser time and he will be able to turn the focus away from tonight's disaster an on to the next one.

'We'll make sure it doesn't happen again'

'We've had words and put it behind us now and look forward, still in a decent position in the league'

'No point making a change when we've a game in 2 days then we've got the international break to get some injuries back'

Then we play a mediocre Sheff Utd side but with a few well known players and also in the PL last season so armed with excuses for a defeat. But assuming we don't get completely pummeled - which we won't because lightning won't strike twice in a row and Sheffield aren't good enough - then even a narrow competitive defeat will be applauded as improvement, players fighting for the manager blah blah blah and before we know it another 2 weeks pass by and 

Meanwhile Cardiff and Barnsley get their pick of the decent managers out there and by the time we go to Bristol we are well through November. 

On and on it goes.

Get to December and they will turn the focus onto bringing in better players in January to keep people dangling for a few more weeks. 

We're being played and yet so many people can't see it.

I'm not particularly upset or even surprised by last night's defeat, a scoreline like that has been on the cards for nearly three years under Mowbray's tenure, the only real surprise is it took so long to finally happen.

What did surprise me was his complete lack of contrition and sheer front in trying to insult the fans intelligence by suggesting 0-7 home defeats are just one of those things which can happen and the game could have gone differently and we just go again etc etc.

Even by the standards of last season, for sheer brass neckery that marked a new low point imo. I'm convinced last season he thought he was going, the players thought he was going, the local press thought he was going and he said some quite ridiculous things to try and hasten a pay off which to everyone's amazement never actually came.

Judging by last night's comments he still wants a pay off. We have no chance of moving on and/or improving until he goes.
