matt83
It would be churlish not to give credit where it’s due now. In the same way when it all goes tits up with the traditional New Years Mowbray death spiral, hitting the usual levels of mediocrity, he’ll deserve criticism. Hopefully with the young lads unscarred by the usual meltdowns and Mowbray not tinkering with style, personnel and tactics every game it’ll be different but I won’t hold my breath.

Mostly without ayala too. I've stuck the boot in when he's deserved criticism and it's only fair that he gets praise when things go well. And since the Fulham debacle things have been going very well. Long may it continue. The clean sheets are what makes me more confident in the team than anything. It's one thing to score goals but if you start every game 1 - 0 down before kickoff then you're going to be struggling. It seems like after the Fulham game words were said and they have tightened up at the back. Hopefully now we can be two up after the first half and not completely blow it.
JBiz
One of the main “fortunate” scenarios we’ve had so far (touch wood) is we’ve managed to keep the defence relatively fit, or at least when one has been out, another has returned. The recruitment of Pickering and Van Hecke has also stepped this up. This will be key to sustaining those clean sheets, and I’m also quite impressed that Pears has stepped up too. Would prefer Kaminski back in ASAP though.
Mattyblue
TM’s problem was trying to play the system he’s utilising now, but without the personnel. Now we have four very handy centre halves for the three spots, with two solid and athletic wing backs (though Nyambe’s injuries are always an issue). It’s a truism, but build that solid platform and go from there, especially as never have much issue in scoring goals.

Right back simply MUST be strengthened in January, its going to need to be anyway by the looks of the contract situation. Right sided Harry Pickering, make yourself known!

I’m afraid Nyambe has got a “ friend for life “ with that hamstring. How long has he been having trouble with it ? I agree we need to find a stand in right back because we’re bound to need one. G Somerset Rover
I reckon JRC could be decent in that RWB role but the problem is he’d even make Vince Grella look half fit. This is definitely our biggest issue at the moment. Both our RB and potentially our best backup RB are very injury prone. Travis can play there but we don't really want to be taking him out of midfield. If there's one area of the squad that desperately needs looking at it's that position. tomphil
Came across as a really sound guy at the 'Evening with' event a real placid guy considering how aggressive he was on the pitch. At the end of the day he got about 100 grand a week and a signing on fee to go to Russia, it's also no secret that our billionaire owners owed Barclays 10 million and weren't stumping up. Also Kean was the manager for gods sake so i attatch no blame whatsoever to Chris bailing out. He'd have been shoved anyway sooner or later by Anderson and co.
Popular Post Atko's Engine
Hi all, it's been a while since I posted on here but I've been "lurking & liking" from time to time! Like @arbitro (who has my heartfelt sympathy), we lost my mum in February, to Alzheimer's; after barely being able to see her, let alone hug & comfort her, due to covid care home restrictions for nearly all of her last 12 months, it hit me hard. Coupled with a few other things, I've since experienced some mental health issues, which I'm still grappling with. So as a previously-staunch "Mowbray in"-er, it didn't seem compatible with improving my mood to maintain a presence on here during THAT 17 game run, a poor summer on the recruitment front & with the Brockall shenanigans thrown in, all of which was pretty indefensible. I stand by my view that, up to Christmas last year, TM had overall done a good job; but in view of all those things, I was quite happy for him to have walked or been potted in the summer, as it seemed he had actually taken us as far as he could &, for the good of the club, had to go. Well I'm now glad that he didn't, as this season has so far been a revelation (Fulham debacle aside). The passion, desire, organisation & ability shown by such a young team has taken me completely by surprise, and whilst TM can't take all the credit for that, he can take a huge chunk. There was an interview I listened to with Bradley Johnson this week where he praised the attention that TM gives to the players as people, as individuals, and how much they respect him for his man-management. He's clearly well liked by the squad, whatever we might think about his treatment of certain players re square pegs / round holes, his aloofness, his often contradictory comments, or seemingly hanging young'uns out to dry. He's also clearly lucked out in many ways; such as being forced into less tinkering due to a small squad, likewise the increasing reliance on youth, and of course BB's transformation into BBD. Whatever the cause, I'm massively re-enthused, as I know we all are. This team is winning ugly if we need to, digging in, putting bodies on the line & seem to have learnt lessons from previously poor game management. It's great to see the togetherness in the squad, even amongst the loanees. Yesterday was a real statement; this month is a chance to make more of them, with 4 eminently winnable games. We all know never to count our chickens, but 7 points or more out of those would see us in a strong position come the January transfer window to secure contract rebels & bring in support, esp at RB. Bring it on I say! COYB

Thanks fella, & the others who liked my post. Tbh I'm only just coming to terms with how important it is to speak openly about mental health struggles, but I'm getting there. Let's just say it's a journey, to bring it back on topic!
